A Egyptian official, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity as he wasn't authorized to brief journalists similarly blamed a strong wind in the area for the incident. Egyptian forecasters said high winds and a sandstorm plagued the area Tuesday, with winds gusting as much as 50 kph (31 mph).

The Ever Given's bow was touching the canal's eastern wall, while its stern looked lodged against its western wall, according to satellite data from MarineTraffic.com. Several tug boats surrounded the ship, likely attempting to push it the right way, the data showed.

Me Thinks this was likely done on purpose....this story dont smell right.
 
If this was done on purpose it could be a terrorism outfit or it could be a government....the enemy could be the global economy or it could be Egypt.

10% of shipping uses it, not being able to use it is extremely harmful to the global economy.

The costs escalate by the minute.

If a 30mph hour wind gust could do this then this ship should have never been allowed into the canal.

I tend to doubt that story, this almost certainly was either gross negligence on a Exxon Valdez scale or terrorism.

I do! Blocking the Suez canal affects the price of gasoline in most cases!

OPEC and our very own State Department should be investigating this!

I'm not speaking for just America- Blocking the Suez Canal, regardless to whether an accident or intentional, affects many nations.

Crude oil is not everything that is exported or imported to and from the MID-EAST!

Well, we do try to treat him as an equal to post whatever he wants!

BUT, HIS CONCERNS ARE EASY TO HANDLE WITH LOGICAL RESPONSES USING JUST COMMON KNOWLEDGE AND COMMON SENSE!
