we lost the vietnam war.............we lost because the politicians in America had no stomach to fight a war, therefore they only let the military defend certain points or attack unimportant and useless targets.
the point being, elected civilian officials control the military and determine it's effectiveness on a high level of tactics and strategy. not the other way around
Or...maybe the whole war was bullshit in the first place, and it was doomed to fail from the start?

My best friend's late father argued with me about 20 years ago that it was a victory because it drained resources from the USSR the entire time. I don't really buy that argument, though. There were plenty of ways to effectuate that, such as the arms race and the space race.

Now you're starting to get it. All wars are about profiteering and that was esp true for the vietnam war. The bankers and news media and arms companies made a fortune off it.
Nixon ended the war before the profiteers wanted it to end and that's the real reason he was forced to resign . The watergate scandal was a hoax. Presidents are not forced to resign because they lied about a minor burglary committed by someone else.

Yes indeed. Democrats think forcing nixon to resign was a great service to the country. Actually Nixon was a pretty good president who ended the war democrats started .
