If you've been holding out hope that the coronavirus pandemic would end when the United States reached herd immunity … I have some bad news for you. Thanks in large part to vaccine hesitancy and slowing rates of vaccination, scientists now say herd immunity is not attainable, and COVID-19 is likely to be a public health threat that we live with and try to manage for a generation or more.

And let's be clear: There's a ton of overlap between the "we don't need no stinkin' masks, we're waiting for herd immunity" crowd and the vaccine-rejecting crowd. They're certainly part of the same broad approach to the pandemic—total lack of personal responsibility in the guise of personal liberty—and the damage keeps accumulating.

Colleges across the country are mandating students be vaccinated, and Tucker Carlson reacted Monday by going on a rant saying people are being forced to get vaccines by “the authorities” who “will have total power over your body and mind” if they succeed.

Carlson has said on his show a few times in the last few months that he’s personally pro-vaccine, but he has been roundly criticized for recent stunning comments about masks and the need to continue vaccinating more people.

News flash: the ‘absolute’ herd immunity Fauci is talking about will require vaccinating children. That would be interesting lol. There are tens of millions of parents that will rebel at having their kids being used as lab rats for an experimental vaccine.

In fact, wouldn’t surprise me if this ‘novel herd immunity’ idea is a test balloon to see how receptive parents are to having their kids vaccinated.

Because that’s where it’s headed.

It is pretty much a deposit bet that Tucker was vaccinated, probably as soon as he could, and the same holds true for most of those demagoguing vaccines

And it is comical how some of the very same individuals who praised the value of herd immunity are now opposing the vaccine which has been proven the quickest way to herd immunity. I'm beginning to believe their goal is to deny Biden a complete victory over Covid so they can look back later and see he didn't accomplish the goal

If left to Warp Speed we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are now. If testing under Trump was any indication, it would be left up to the States while he sat back and personally attacked Governors for his own political ends

And it is not about "whataboutism," about Americans dying unnecessarily, and demogogues as Tucker preaching against vaccines doesn't help the country trying to reach herd immunity, which the vaccine has proven the quickest way

There is no path to the kind of herd immunity Fauci is talking about with vaccinating kids. Do you think parents should be forced to have their children vaccinated?

What do you suppose the political fallout would be?
