That’s two years longer than me. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, I didn’t leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left me. It was in steps and I kept hoping the Republican Party would recover and go back to sanity. Obviously it never did. It just got nuttier until it was impossible to recognize it anymore.

I'd rather live in an Authoritarian country.

Why?

Because in a Socialist state, for the first decade or less, roughly half the population would support the idea of Socialism. And then, when they realized the error in their thinking, the relatively small number (compared to the total population) of people who wanted to be included in the government elites and their well connected cronies would work as hard as possible to squelch dissent until total control was achieved and the police state was completely omnipotent.

But in an Authoritarian country, everyone would know and oppose the Dictator from the beginning and continually until he was deposed.

And then the question would be, "Socialism or Capitalism/Democracy?"

I still have hope that someone like Rep. Adam Kizinger will lead and save the party but it would be hard to do as long as the McClowns are running the show. I'm not enamored with the Dems spending plans. Gotta be wary of inflation because if the market goes south, that gives the reps some good ammo come election day.
