Current situation at restaurants

We have been trying to support restaurants and fast food all through the pandemic. Because of gross mismanagement of the unemployment system and as well the WOKE TALIBAN teaching that work is oppression restaurants are having a huge problem finding people who are willing to work. Have you in the last few months seen a steep drop off of food quality as business booms without there being enough staff...or at least enough good staff?

Are service levels going down?

Please Report.

Pay more, get good employees.

Man, Tucker just ripped the health care leaders a new one....again.

We have been betrayed by our leaders.

We have to do something about this.

NOW!

I could see how negative people's service is getting worse. Everyone's on edge, so if you come in demanding slaves, they will not treat you well. But, if you are positive, then servers will be glad to see you.

Easy solution, pay them more

That is what cracks me up when people whine that retail servers did not thank them. They always follow that they would stop going there, if it were not so cheap. So they have switched price for politeness, and then are complaining that the servers are not being their slaves.

The two solutions are pay them more, or thank them for being willing to serve you.

Young people these days just don't like to work. Occasionally you'll run across one that's motivated. Usually their parents were addicts and they were raised by the grandparents who instilled them with work ethic.

I find the opposite. People even just a little older than 50 tend to think of working 40 hour weeks. Anyone younger than that expects to work 60 to 90 hour weeks.

Because..some better paying jobs remain open due to stupid public policy that incentivizes idleness. That leaves the eateries hanging.

I have never seen a better paying job left open for any other reason than it being difficult to find someone educated enough to fill it. No one is taking $300 a week($15k a year), rather than work at a job that pays $200k. It just does not happen.

This is a good point to restate that I am expecting 100% increase in menu prices 2019-2024.

OK, you have an economic prediction. Now translate that into an investment, and you can become rich... Or more probably you will lose everything, because you are betting against the market here.

People who worked for tips tended to do pretty well over the years. With seats empty in these establishments, these workers cannot be expected to work for less than a Walmart employee.

The WM in my town is starting people at $16/hour. Granted, nobody gets full time hours.

Tipped work is a bit of a career trap. You start out at about the same amount of money as you end up at, or maybe even better. What is great pay when you are 22 and single, is not that great when you are 50 and trying to put two kids through college.

To answer the OP, our last three visits to our favorite restaurant were not good. The food was warm, at best. I don't blame the servers. I blame management for not adequately staffing the kitchen.

Only if you keep the CEO's bonus astronomical.
they are all overpaid, but they get what they get in a fair bidding by boards.
After all a CEO can make or break a company -that's their market value.

Thing is all jobs are now at least $15 here in Fl,and stores like WAWA are giving $500 hiring bonus and $300 vaxx
and they still cant get enough workers

it's still too cushy to sit on the sidelines, maybe get a gig..good money

The cost of labor is a very minor part of the cost of a Big Mac. It only adds a few cents.

:wrongkiddo:

A Big Mac isn't even big anymore. If I never bought another, that would be OK.

They used to be somewhat big at least. They're approaching Krystal burger size now.

Secret Thousand Island dressing sauce, yeah, fuck that.

Sorry, but us WV hillbillies are basically back to normal. And we’re not exactly sure what it is you Blue Staters are waiting on lol.

Orders from Fauci?

My mistake. I thought it was a question about the concept and the US. I did not know it was about you.

You typed that and thought it made sense. WoW

How little you know tends to be alarming.

Did you ever consider education?

I recommend it.

:moped:

It is under 20 percent of the costs for a successful restaurant. save the insults. he is right. For a pizzeria, it is even less. The owner of Papa Johns's lives in an incredible estate and he has had parties for presidents in his home. When the 15 dollar wage came to him, he rejected it saying it would add 50 cents per ticket. He did not want to do that.
