French prez blames imported US ideas for French society becoming ‘racialized’
The president took aim at American social science ideas that focus on race. ‘I don’t agree with a fight that reduces everyone to their identity or their particularity,’ he says.
“I see that our society is becoming progressively racialized,” Macron told Elle magazine in an interview.
He took aim in particular at the idea of “intersectionality” – popular among left-leaning US academics – that seeks to explain discrimination and poverty by examining the role played by race, gender and other social factors in affecting an individual’s life chances.
“The logic of intersectionality fractures everything,” Macron said. “I stand for universalism,” he continued.

DEMOCRATS dunked in USSC ruling
In the estimation of Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger, the Supreme Court’s judgment in Brnovich v. DEMOCRAT National Committee has “vindicated Georgia election law.”
The Brnovich decision ruled that an Arizona law banning the practice of ballot harvesting and requiring that voters cast their ballot at their assigned precinct did not violate the Voting Rights Act.
It came as welcome news for Raffensperger, whose state’s recently passed election integrity law, SB 202, is the target of a Department of Justice lawsuit under the same statute announced by Attorney General Merrick Garland last week.
“We know that SB 202 will also be affirmed, if it gets to the Supreme Court,” Raffensperger told National Review.
SB 202 requires that voters who show up to the wrong precinct before 5p.m. be directed to the correct one.
Arizona’s law — held up as lawful by the Supreme Court — states that votes cast at the wrong precinct must be thrown out.
Raffensperger took note of another sign that Brnovich bodes well for defenders of election integrity.
“One of the things that Attorney General Garland said was that there was this legislative intent, so he already’s been cut off at the knees and we haven’t even gotten to court yet,” he said.

Newsom recall election has been certified after DEMOCRATS changed election laws

More than 1.7 million voters signed petitions to qualify the Newsom recall election, according to Secretary of State Shirley Weber, a DEMOCRAT and Newsom appointee who issued the official certification Thursday afternoon.
DEMOCRAT Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis is expected to decide the recall date later Thursday, and Sept. 14 is the likeliest spot on the calendar given the parameters Kounalakis must work with.
Weber moved swiftly after Newsom’s Department of Finance released its cost analysis earlier in the day, which pegged the price tag at $276 million.
The reason this is all happening so quickly is that earlier this week DEMOCRATS changed a law to eliminate a financial review of the proposed recall election which would have extended the timeline by months.
Why? Because DEMOCRATS hope it’s better for Newsom to get this over with as soon as possible.
While political observers once believed an early November election would best benefit Newsom by conforming to the typical rhythms of the election cycle, helping to boost turnout in an off-year election, that logic has shifted as California has reopened its economy and Newsom’s polling numbers have stabilized.
DEMOCRATS increasingly believe that Newsom would benefit from an earlier vote that allows him to capitalize on that momentum while depriving Republican foes of time to organize and fund-raise.
Here’s the backstory:
Back in 2017 DEMOCRATS passed a law that mandated that the Secretary of State’s office would have 30 days to review the cost estimate for the recall election before approving it.
The Sacramento Bee noted at the time that the law was passed with one specific purpose, to help a DEMOCRAT State Senator survive a GOP-led recall effort:
The proposed changes, which became public Monday morning, would add months to the existing timeline of certifying a recall election for the ballot.
The measure would virtually assure that any recall election would be held at the regularly scheduled June 5, 2018 legislative primary election.
Regular election turnout historically is much higher than turnout for special elections, which helps DEMOCRATS.
That law was in place for four years until this Monday, when DEMOCRATS passed a new bill to remove the delay they had added to the process in a blatant effort to help Newsom survive.
Newsom signed the bill into law the same day.

A New York federal judge ruled on Thursday to unseal court documents from Ghislaine Maxwell, an accused child sex trafficker who was the associate of sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.
Judge Loretta Preska said that the release of the documents would not have an impact on Maxwell’s ability to have a fair trial.
“It is not the job of the Court to police press coverage,” Preska said. “Tabloid fodder doesn’t diminish the importance of materials that could reasonably affect the court’s decision on a motion.”
“The judge also ruled that documents relating to a request from [Virginia Roberts] Giuffre for email accounts that Maxwell allegedly kept secret from the court should also be made public.”
The documents are part of a tranche of material gradually being released by Judge Preska from the defamation case [Virginia Roberts Giuffre] filed against Maxwell in 2016 for calling her a liar.”
Giuffre’s legal team demanded the documents be turned over on a wide range of issues, including documents related to any funding that Maxwell may have received from Clinton organizations.
The ruling states:
"From January 2012 to the present, produce all documents concerning any source of funding for the TarraMar Project (Maxwell’s nonprofit) or any other not-for-profit entities with which you are associated, including but not limited to, funding received from the Clinton Global Initiative, the Clinton Foundation (a/k/a William J. Clinton Foundation, a/k/a/ the Bill, Hilary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation), and the Clinton Foundation Climate Change Initiative".
