“I think the CDC...made a mistake"

Prolonged? Seems to me things were reasonably opening up since last summer.

????

I'm talking about Trump's denial there was a problem. If he'd led the nation to wear masks and self-quarantine as much as possible, the virus wouldn't have spread so much. Instead, Trump held and supported super-spreader events.

Lose a war fighting for slavery?

He has a hair up his ass about the civil war. I don't know why. All I do know is that since I don't jump on the bandwagon in the false belief that Lincoln invaded the South to end slavery, he follows me around commenting about it. Odd, but harmless.

I wonder how much "If I go I go" plays into this, the basic lack of much interest in sticking around, the deciding that life is cheap and not very valuable. A lot of the gang bangers seem to take that view, and that also is heavy in Hip Hop.

Well, we all go at some point lol.

In terms of probability the odds that a given individual, even in my age group, is going to leave the world because of the CCP Virus are slim.

Good grief.

If Trump suggested masks the TDS crowd would have never worn them lol. The Cuz Trump Reflex would have kicked in. Have you forgotten that the vaccine fanatics on the left were anti-vax when Trump was going on about vaccines?

The Trump virus narrative was lame even when he was in office—for reasons that have been explained countless times and it’s only gotten lamer as time has gone on. Trump’s greatest offense was saying stupid crap but this had little to no practical effect on the data. Half the country wasn’t going to listen to him anyway, right? It wouldn’t matter what he said.

His critics won’t even give him any credit for ensuring the country was going to have a good supply of vaccines. And watch what happens if/when they start to fail. Within the space of five minutes the script will be flipped and it will be back to ‘Trump’s fault’. It’s such a steaming pile of partisan bullshit it’s pointless to engage it.

If you want to blame an entity for the virus it’s ridiculously easy. They’re found in Beijing. But nobody ‘wants to go there’.

It did seem a bit early. The problem goes to the social one: there was so much angst and negative energy pent up because of an unnecessarily prolonged self-quarantine that some assholes would have started rioting if Biden didn't show some progress...something the same assholes never followed since Trump didn't.

Trump lol.

Have you been paying attention to the anti lockdown protests in Europe? I think it might have more to do with human nature than the Bad Orange Man. Lockdowns do more harm than good anyway. The social and economic costs are horrendous and the benefits in terms of improving data are marginal. But apparently too many leaders are too dumb to see it, so yeah.

They did make a mistake lifting the mask mandate to soon and going with that asinine honor system too?!!

I would say half the people I see in the supermarket and other businesses , when I'm shopping and not wearing masks are unvaccinated?!!

I bet you are right about that. Up here in the frozen north our new case count remains low -- for now -- but I'm back to avoiding crowds again. Mask might be next given the influx of tourists now. Our vax rate is ~62%, for residents.

Of course. You're more likely to die in bed choking your life out from cancer, rendered even dumber by a stroke or struggle along with a bad heart before you croak.

Smart people have annual physicals and follow their doctor's advice. They should also read up on what ails them on the Internet from medical sources like Mayo or WebMD. Dumbasses get both their news and their medical advice from friends and groups on Facebook just like their vaccination and mask advice. :)

That said, a person who deliberately takes risks like road surfing because the odds are he'll die of a heart attack is a fucking moron.

With the current uptick in the ‘pandemic among the vaccinated’ in heavily vaccinated UK and Israel, my wait and see approach is looking better all the time lol. For example, I’ve scratched J&J off the list. In the meantime I’ll continue to exercise, eat healthy and take care of myself.

And not live in fear.

You do that, Opie. Also, drink a lot of alcohol, eat Honey Buns for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Go road surfing. All those government types are bullshiting you. Live how you like, just don't hurt anyone else. You should try autoerotic asphyxiation too.

I'm curious about your opinion. Let's say that Lincoln either didn't try, or tried and failed, to keep the union together. In modern times the south is the poorest part of the nation. What would they look like now, if they had split from the union? Would they be individual little Balkan-like fiefdoms? Would they have stayed a confederacy? Slavery would have been abolished eventually; what would their economy look like today w/o it? Would they still be poor, relatively speaking? Would Texas be part of their group, or its own country, or part of the Union?

Flu season casualties were down last year because good Americans were following common sense rules of mask-wearing, hand-washing and social distancing. Those rules haven't changed for decades even though the Trump Zombies make it sound like a Democratic plot to bismirch Trump.

With flu season approaching and COVID still around, I expect the rates of both will rise for the unvaxxed and the Opies of the world.

That requires a WAG, but slavery was dying as an institution due to the industrial age. The South's industry, what little it had, was destroyed in warfare; mainly in Sherman's Scorched Earth campaign (now illegal by the Geneva Convention). This put them even further behind the industrialized north. To some extent, they still haven't caught up.

IMO, had Lincoln done nothing but try to maintain cordial trade relations with the South, I think that by the 1900s, slavery would have been abandoned and the nation reunited against an increasingly hostile world. Maybe WWI would have dragged on longer, so long there was no WWII, because the US didn't enter under President Wilson. There's a cascade effect to major changes in history. Change a major thing and it changes everything else.

Regardless, I think slavery was dying as the world became more civilized. Notice that it mainly exists in undeveloped countries and is illegal across the industrialized world due to the conflict between the ideals of unalienable rights and forced subservience.

You covidiots sure do love that "live in fear" nonsense you've been fed. Guess what? You're wrong again, 61. We're not afraid. I've traveled twice in the last month, once by air. So have hundreds of thousands of others.

I waited till I was vaccinated because one person I visited (youngest daughter) is immunocompromised due to MS, plus her infant hasn't had the vax, nor has her 6-yo. I waited till I was vaxxed because the other family members I visited (middle and oldest daughters) have 1) an infant, and 2) had to wait to get theirs.

You can call concern for others "fear" if that makes your willful ignorance easier to bear. It's the vaccinated ppl who make your false sense of security possible.

As any intelligent, responsible adult would do. Dumbasses not so much and that's why they are dying now.
