“I think the CDC...made a mistake"

Exactly. A serial pathological liar has control of half of the nation.

Not exactly. :)

Republicans leadership is severely lacking, but that doesn't mean over 70 million Americans are blindly following Trump like zombies. Only about 20,000 of them are zombies. :)

The complete failure of the CDC has been well documented, though almost never will the Mind Molders talk about it.

Your education was always first and foremost your responsibility.

Agreed on education. What about mentally ill people, including drug addicts and drunks, are they completely responsible?

The same CDC that has been nearly constantly wrong and often found to be lying and which also turned up incompetent at their two most important jobs....developing tests and tracking and analyzing data.

They have so fucked us.

Agreed.

Instead of wasting time and resources on the navel gazing stuff covered in the OP, the CDC should have had a good test up and running *prior* to the pandemic. The PCR test is junk. The CDC had nothing to do with formulating it. Apparently, they grabbed at the only thing that was out there.

It wasn’t even designed as a diagnostic tool by the person who formulated it. They *finally* got around to standardizing the test cycles shortly after Biden got installed. [imagine that] So for the previous months—through the worst of the pandemic, case numbers were given without knowing how many cycles the PCR tests were being run in order to arrive at the case numbers they provided to the public. That also opened the door to political shenanigans because if you want less positive tests, decrease the number of cycles. Want bigger numbers? Run them for 45 cycles.

IOW, the data was junk. It’s inexcusable. And this isn’t even getting into Fauci’s NIAID getting mixed up with the CCP run Wuhan Institute of Virology where they were doing gain of function research on bat viruses. Aka Covid viruses. THAT is a scandal and it’s being suppressed. Lab leak or no, that it totally unacceptable.

You might plug "how the cdc failed" into Google and start getting educated on the subject.

I'd rather you read them all first then consolidate them into a report with graphs. Something like this would be nice:

1-There's always pressure on all politicians. The fact their character and/or spine was so weak that they surrendered to stupidity is a violation of their duty. It's their fucking job and they failed their duty.

2-Trump is a notorious liar and his followers are notoriously stupid and/or delusional.

3-Disagreed the CDC is that stupid. The experts say one thing and the politicians spin it how they like. It doesn't matter if it's mobile laboratories suspected of being bioweapon labs or the probability of an effective vaccine; there will always be politicians spinning it to their advantage if they can.

What chaps my ass about fucking politicians is that the experts in medicine, intelligence, the military, etc will couch their language with numbers, not guesses. It's the fucking politicians who put the spin on it, one way or another, and cause guesses to formulate among the citizenry.

The CDC does have a behavioral science section. This CDC link states:

"The behavioral and social sciences incorporate a number of disciplines, and each brings a variety of theoretical perspectives and methodologic approaches to its particular areas of study. At CDC, these sciences are represented primarily by psychology, sociology, anthropology, and economics. Armed with their unique frameworks, scientists from these fields can use qualitative, quantitative, or multiple methods to explore the effects of behavioral, social, and cultural factors on public health problems. As with all research at CDC, behavioral and social science research ranges from basic to applied; however, these disciplines contribute most to applied public health through intervention research, program evaluation, and policy analysis."

Why this division of the CDC wasn't more proactive or, more probably, their advice followed, is a current mystery. Who fucked up? Was it at the CDC or above their level?

Given the discussion about political spin, it's important to remember that this issue was evolving on a daily basis. Rapidly. Because trump decimated the agency that was set up to prevent this, and given that he hid the truth from the public for months, the CDC was playing from behind.

Also pertinent is that trump usurped all data that came from hospitals and filtered it through his own warped messaging. In fact, anything that was cloaked as info. from the CDC, was really his campaign messaging instead of fact.

It was easy to dismiss a lot of important information, because the Right was twisting every word from Fauci's mouth. Early on, he said the people didn't need to wear masks. This, because hospitals were running out of masks and PPE. It was more important for healthcare workers to have proper protection. trump sent millions of masks to China in the early days of the trump virus. I'm still not sure why. Eventually, when masks were readily available, Fauci declared that masks help.

How many times did '61' and idiots like him try to prove that masks don't work?

Ironic that this seasonal flu season was the least deadly in history...but masks don't work.

Politicians will always twist facts to benefit their re election. That's a given. Unfortunately, it's costing lives this time.

They seem to be much more interested in their social engineering work that they have taken on increasingly over the last 15 years or so....because they had a great reputation (which is now shredded) it was decided that they were the perfect vehicle for convincing Americans to behave as our owners (Carlin) want......like vaping, guns, racism, the University rape hoax....that sort of thing....political work rather than their mission. You should see that the exact same thing happened (was done to by power) the military, which now invests so much of their attention towards social engineering projects rather than their day jobs.

Buckle Up.

Latest Data on COVID-19 Vaccinations by Race/Ethnicity

Black and Hispanic people have had persistently lower rates of vaccination compared to their White counterparts across most states.

https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-cov...data-on-covid-19-vaccinations-race-ethnicity/

Too many blacks know about the Tuskegee ‘experiments’ and Hispanics are likely just not sufficiently Covid fearful.

That’s the real split: if one worries about the CCP bug they are likely to get vaccinated. Conversely..and yeah, more apt to be nonchalant or skeptical. I’m a bit of hybrid in that regard.

I wonder how much "If I go I go" plays into this, the basic lack of much interest in sticking around, the deciding that life is cheap and not very valuable. A lot of the gang bangers seem to take that view, and that also is heavy in Hip Hop.

This article is mainly about the Delta variant and the “pandemic of the unvaccinated.” Buried down in the article is a comment by Dr. Emily Landon, chief infectious-disease epidemiologist at University of Chicago Medicine, who astutely noted that the CDC made a mistake by looking at the pandemic solely as a biological issue and not including that fact social science has a place in reducing the severity of a pandemic.

It's been posted on JPP before that the entire Trump Cult is a social issue. Q anon (the Qless) is mainly a collection of losers and mentally ill Americans feeding on Trump's lies and fantasies.

Biden's comments about Facebook "killing" Americans due to the wash of false information on it is a social issue. Los Angeles has reinstituted an indoor mask mandate as a social science response to what should be a biological issue without the prevalence of false information and Americans who can't tell the difference between truth and lies fostered by Trump and his sycophants.

What interests me most is the recognition that social science has a valid application in saving lives in the midst of a pandemic. I also believe that social sciences have a place in preventing more cults, be they religious or political figures. As noted elsewhere, I believe social sciences are the most useful tool in preventing violence in America, be it with guns, knives, cars or physical rage as the world saw on 1/6.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/07/17/delta-cases-rising/
As the delta variant spreads, the messaging from public health experts and officials is unequivocal: Vaccines are the best protection against severe illness and hospitalization. More than 97 percent of new hospitalizations from the delta variant are from people who are unvaccinated, making what Rochelle Walensky, who directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, calls “a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”...

...Emily Landon, chief infectious-disease epidemiologist at University of Chicago Medicine, said the CDC should have included parameters on the mask rules, such as establishing a threshold allowing unvaccinated people to go without masks only if a certain percent of the population is inoculated.

“I think the CDC in May made a mistake,” Landon said. “They made a recommendation based on biological science, but not any social science. Unfortunately, the policy of letting people self-sort into vaccinated and unvaccinated resulted in a sort of behavioral science problem.”

I posted the day they took off the mask advisory that it was a big mistake.

This had to happen and there was no damned reason for it.

Bigger problem is states rights.

Nothing worse than "states rights" during a pandemic.

Having worked both sides when it comes to government agencies, when passing blame I start with the top down. None of that whining about "the mess the previous President left". Sure it takes 18-24 months to see change in leadership at most government agencies since everything is based on Congressional funding, but the steps to take corrective action, of as we saw with Trump, destructive action, can happen by an announcement from POTUS.

It did seem a bit early. The problem goes to the social one: there was so much angst and negative energy pent up because of an unnecessarily prolonged self-quarantine that some assholes would have started rioting if Biden didn't show some progress...something the same assholes never followed since Trump didn't.

The fucking vaccinations are free.
They're readily available.

One would need to have the IQ of an asparagus not to be inoculated.
And now we see just how many of those that we've got in this country.

Their Democratic White counterparts since Republican men are notoriously paranoid about conspiracy theories over vaccinations. LOL

Hmmm...."blacks" are 13% of the population and have 12% of the shots. Awesome. Which vax did you have, volsrock? I had two Modernas.

Harris VP office is a cluster fuck shit show....God I hope she runs

It's a solid bet she will. What's not so certain is will Biden game the system and make her President a year or two prior to the election?

Prolonged? Seems to me things were reasonably opening up since last summer.

????

Are you saying that Biden can force trumpkins to get vaccinated with an announcement?
