How should Jan. 6 insurrections be punished?

Those who merely walked into the lobby with the crowd should be offered to have their case dismissed if they take a civics class, anyone who took it any further should be seriously punished.

I disagree. They should go to prison. They are incorrigible. I don't believe any of them about anything. They are liars, cowards and traitors. Every person who entered the building.

Maximum sentence allowed by law. Which is 2 years just for entering the building. Lock them up and throw away the key. They are traitors to their country.

This message is hidden because SmarterthanYou is on your ignore list.

When is your hearing? Are you going to plead guilty and rat out your fellow traitors?

They are traitors and pose an immediate threat of violence if free.

My favorite is the lady who claimed the courts had no jurisdiction over her. LOL. I wonder how that'll work out for her. Also saw where they brought a guy into court today to unlock his computer with facial recognition. Apparently he had a helmet cam. He's got some serious problems when they look at that footage.

They all deserve prison sentences. They all deserve at least one year of parole.
But they all should be required to take a civics class and pass a test.

I believe that everyone in the crowd, that did not turn away and clear out after the DONALD TRUMP SPEECH ended, should spend, at least, one night in jail as an accessory to the crime of Domestic Terrorism. Because they should have known that what Donald Trump was asking them to do was commit an act of Domestic Terrorism- AND THEY COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY- BUT DIDN'T.

SPENDING A DAY IN JAIL IS A GOOD LESSON TO LEARN FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER LEARNED THAT LESSON YET IN LIFE!

ALL OTHER MORE serious crimes should be dealt with by the current laws on the books and face the penalties already laid out by those laws- AFTER THEIR DUE PROCESS IS CARRIED OUT IN COURT!

Assaulting a police officer carries a stiff penalty already. Destruction of government property carries it's own penalty. Breaking and Entering a Government property will also carry a stiff penalty. EVEN MAKING PUBLIC THREATS TO KILL A GOVERNMENTAL OFFICIAL HAS IT'S OWN PENALTY DEFINED. And of course stealing and burglarizing GOVERNMENTAL OFFICES is also a crime with a defined punishment. Carrying lethal weapons is also a crime with a clear punishment. Even making a disturbance in the halls of Congress is a penalty all of itself.

And yes as a term of probation after serving these sentences- THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A GOVERNMENTAL CIVICS CLASS AND BE REQUIRED TO TAKE A TEST AND PASS THE TEST!

Every one of the insurrectionists is getting fair treatment from the court systems. They have lawyers and they are presenting their defenses. They are finding out that the crimes they thought were no big deal are very serious and there is lots of jail time possible. So many people have turned their lives upside down due to being in the Trump con. U feel sad for them. Many families are being destroyed for Trump. Trump, of course, is just going on untouched.

The guy just sentenced to 8 months in prison observed he will lose his job. I have no problem with him suffering.

8 months, what a joke.........but not real funny to Tommy Chong

In 2003, Chong became caught up in two American investigations, code-named Operation Pipe Dreams and Operation Headhunter, which tried to trace drug traffic and users through businesses selling drug paraphernalia, mostly bongs. Operation Pipe Dreams was run from Pittsburgh. US Attorney for Western Pennsylvania Mary Beth Buchanan oversaw the case. The estimated cost of Operation Pipe Dreams was over $12 million and included the resources of 2,000 law enforcement officers.[27] Fifty-five companies that sold drug paraphernalia over the Internet were the subject of the investigation, and Nice Dreams was one of them.

Chong was charged for his part in financing and promoting Chong Glass/Nice Dreams, a company started by his son Paris. His case never went to trial, as his attorney negotiated a plea agreement with the US Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania's Office. He admitted to distributing 7,500 bongs and water pipes on the Internet through Nice Dreams, a family company. Chong agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute drug paraphernalia in exchange for non-prosecution of his wife, Shelby, and his son, Paris. Chong cooperated with the government and was the first of the Operation Pipe Dreams defendants to plead guilty.[27]

At Chong's sentencing, Assistant U.S. Attorney for Western Pennsylvania Mary McKeen Houghton said in her arguments that Tommy Chong "used his public image to promote this crime" and marketed his products to children.[28] U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan also was present at the sentencing in Pittsburgh and released a statement to the press stating, "There are consequences for violating the law, even if the violator is a well-known entertainer like Thomas Chong."[27]

While Chong argued for community service and home detention at his sentencing, the district judge, Arthur J. Schwab, denied his requests and sentenced him to 9 months in federal prison, a fine of $20,000

Yes, familiar. He was convicted of selling bongs. Not drugs, plastic objects.
