The Florida panhandle (also known as the Redneck Riveria) is the poster child for stupid fuck Trump voters. There are 27 counties west of Duval county in the northern part of the state, most of them are in the panhandle, all of them except the two counties surrounding Gainesville are rural and white.
Of those 27 counties, TWENTY FIVE have a vaccination rate under 45%. The only two that have a rate higher than 50% are the two counties that make up the Gainesville area. Covid is running rampant in the Florida panhandle. It is an outbreak fueled by unvaxxed white rural bumpkins. These countries have case rates that range from 167 per 100,000 on the low end to over 600 cases per 100,000 on the high end. Contrast that to Baltimores rate of 3.6, and it becomes readily apparent that almost every unvaxxed person, and a good portion of the vaxxed population are going to contract Covid unless mask mandates and social distancing measures are implemented in those counties. And DeSantis will make sure that does not happen, which will cause thousands to die. It is nothing short of criminal. In Duval county, the worst county in the United States, and where I live, you are 200 times more likely to contract Covid than you are in Baltimore. It's obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that those numbers cannot be allowed to grow. But they will. And Florida will be a disaster. It is no different in the rural parts of central Florida.
