This is correct. Afghanistan troops we furnished and trained are not fighting the Taliban. that was the point after all. We spent 2 trillion dollars and 7000 coalition deaths and over 35,000 injured.,and got nothing but hate. We had to leave to find out. We could have left a decade ago and been in the same spot. I am glad someone finally ended this mess.

The military did a bad job. They got everything they asked for and they did not train fighting troops. Sooner or later it was going to come out. It required leaving them by themselves. They failed. Our training failed.
 
The important next great step in defense of Democracy, the well being of society and the common decency of civilization is to 14th Amendment, Sec 3 evict seditious and treasonous repukes and blue dogs out of Congress. Short of marching on Moscow, attacking Afghanistan is the stupidest thing any country could do, which has been shown again and again since the Nineteenth Century. The best bet would have been to take as many women and girls out as wanted to go and let the fanatics bugger one another like good nutty boys!

There was no way to do it without it being messy.

It would not look good if the US gradually backed away, giving up ground. That would make it look as if the Taliban drove us out. Does that count for anything?
