What will you do for your country?

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Deliberately harming people isn't covered by the First Amendment.

"rules are about passing off opinion as fact, especially if it's harmful to the public."

We can't let the government try to regulate speech. That's what Russia and China do. It violates our principles of free speech.

We have to let liars lie, but we are just as free to speak the truth. And we should.

America will always be speaking truth to lies.

It's not about government. It's about holding people accountable for their words and actions.

Having had repeated training and certification on various types of masks from gas masks to the little comfort masks (and yes, NAVOSH requires you be trained and qualified on every one of these), the first problem is that the vast majority of people aren't wearing the mask properly. Have a beard or facial hair? A mask is nearly worthless. Don't have it fitting tightly around the edges? Worthless. Improper size? Worthless.
There's a whole range of issues here most people are totally unaware of in wearing a mask. Yet, the CDC, etc., is recommending them anyway.

I'll leave that up to you. I want no part of playing word police. Anybody mouths off at me in this forum and I just dismiss them for life.

I'm not going after anybody else personally, and I won't have them going after me. I can only control the way I post and who I respond to.

I was referring to holding our politicians and other leaders accountable for their words and deeds. If you think that only applies to this forum, I disagree.

Thank you for your service.

Masks do serve a purpose. They are the best line of defense when distancing is not possible. It would be unrealistic to try to get everyone in the most efficient masks possible, so we are doing what we can.

There's no science behind that.

They're merely a symbol of compliance to the totalitarian hivemind.

All the sudden the mask cultists are America first.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

If we don't like em, vote em out.

Agreed but waiting for elections is not the only way to civilly disagree with elected leaders.

I occasionally write my governor and other elected reps. Collectively, that has impact. Whether it has enough impact to initiate change depends on multiple factors. If enough citizens are consistent in their desire for a particular action, it increases the likelihood of acceptable results.

IMO, anyone lying about the effects of a pandemic or the common sense CDC recommendations to minimize spreading disease should be held accountable for every American who is harmed by their lies now, not in a year or more when they come up for reelection.

It's a good point, but Abbott doesn't seem to be moved. Need to get the message out wider and farther to bury him in negative mail.

I do believe that I have responsibilities, but I don’t believe in dictating that responsibility on others. If you look back on our country’s history there’s been plenty of times when things that were considered our “responsibility” weren’t right.

You also assume that everyone sees the same common enemy. They don’t.

And Arnold is incorrect. He of all people should realize why.

You’re lecturing me as if you know anything about me. Assuming that “I’m not doing the right thing” because I advocate for people to be able to choose for themselves is a mistake on your part. That you imply that I’m brainwashed by Fox News shows that you’re already blinded by partisan politics.

No one is dictating what others should or shouldn't be doing.

All they are doing is pointing out that during WWII people cared more about others and therefore were willing to make greater sacrifices.
