A mortal blow to Young Earth creationism

I am with you. I don't give a fuck what people believe. Their beliefs can help them improve themselves, like AA meetings for example.

I am with you with hating those organized religions trying to force their beliefs on others and making laws out of it. FUCK THEM. They need to be destroyed.

Bingo. I don't want their religion, my religion, or anyone else's religion being part of our government and legal system.

Hello evince,

I read up on current perception of the Kon Tiki expedition. Most of science now disagrees with Heyerdahl. DNA shows that the South Pacific was likely settled by people From southeast Asia.

"Heyerdahl's hypothesis of Polynesian origins is overwhelmingly rejected by scientists today. Archaeological, linguistic, cultural, and genetic evidence all support a western origin (from Island Southeast Asia) for Polynesians via the Austronesian expansion.[1][2][3] "

But there is some genetic evidence that indicates an influence of South America:

"Genetic analysis of Polynesians and Native South Americans, published in Nature in July 2020, has revealed that several eastern Polynesian populations have signs of an ancient genetic signature that originated from Native South American people. An initial admixture event between Native South Americans and Polynesians, discovered by statistical analysis, took place around AD 1150–1230.[43][44]"

I guess it doesn't have to be an either/or situation. Evidence now suggests both Southeast Asian and some South American genetics in the South Pacific Islands.

Agreed it doesn’t have to be either/or. Clearly the majority of the dominate human cultures in South America had a SE Asian genetic history, but that doesn’t mean it was the only one or always the dominant one.

If Space Aliens did a genetic analysis of North America today, they’d find that the predominant DNA is of European origin.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

They fear losing their fortunes and advantages over most other human beings.

I know you hate anything to do with a religion but there truly is a lot of wisdom in all lasting major religions. Thou Shalt Not Covet is central to all three of the major Abrahamic religions.

Buddhism teaches that want causes suffering. It teaches the difference between want and need. Most Americans don't need most of the shit they want as proved by the fact less than 11% live below the US poverty line...which is a damn sight better than most of the world: https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2020/demo/p60-270.html

That said, most great wisdom points out that it's better for society to plan for the future instead of party like it's no tomorrow as we are doing in the US. This includes trying to take things from others, which is greed, pure and simple.

That was essentially the choice in the 1980 election. Did we want to think about substance of character and the future or did we want to just go with consumption, possessions and image. We made the wrong choice, and we've been on a self-destructive track ever since.

Although, we should get credit for making the right choice in the 2000 election, even if the way it was decided handed it to the loser.

Jimmy Carter: "Human identity is no longer defined by what one does, but by what one owns."

This young man is an example of how organized religions can indoctrinate and damage the children. It is child abuse and plenty of them have been traumatized.

I can attest to it myself since I was the same way in the 80's. I'm okay now LOL but there's still some damages.

It is probably Neaderthals or Homo Denisovans, because I do not think Homo Sapiens were on the Tibetan plateau 226k years ago.

Interesting that the only religion lefties attack is Christianity. Hmmmmmmmmmm. BTW,...the foot prints mean zero.

I really wish you'd drop the erroneous idea that I "hate anything to do with religion." It's utterly false. I am not an atheist, and I have found religions endlessly fascinating over the decades of my life. What I despise are those who use their chosen faith as a club rather than as a crutch to help themselves be better ppl.

I am interested in all aspects of religion and moral philosophy.

My problem is that there is a group of people who get angry if I post anything remotely respectful about atheism:
https://www.justplainpolitics.com/s...-first-atheists-600-BCE&p=4605033#post4605033
https://www.justplainpolitics.com/showthread.php?166653-quot-God-is-dead-quot&p=4383990#post4383990

And there is completely different group that gets angry if I post anything remotely respectful about Christianity:
https://www.justplainpolitics.com/s...ning-the-Christian-Life&p=4371806#post4371806

Oddly, no one ever gets angry if I post anything respectfully about Hinduism, animism, Buddhism, etc.

I do not play on a team, so it is all interesting to me.

You don't know squat, but then that's to be expected given your penchant for whackjob conspiracy theories. It wasn't that long ago that a home solar array was out of reach for the average family, large and unsightly as well. The problem with you Luddite science-deniers is you want to give up before we've even begun. Don't worry; we'll go on without you.

They're all spineless quitters. A party of losers.

That's funny, because there is another group of posters who claim I am a fundamentalist christian.

No worries. Being attacked by the nutjobs on both sides is how you can tell you're a sensible person who can see the truisms regardless of party politics rather than one of the mindless fucking drones who steer hard left or right into a wall.

So then obviously you use solar to power your home right? It really isnt all that expensive anymore. Quite a few people around here do. I myself do not. Surely someone as concerned about the future as yourself does though....right...RIGHT? Dont even bother answering. NO WAY IN HELL YOU DO. How very very typical.

Frequently, When it comes to the two camps - the hardcore Christian fundamentalists, and the hardcore atheists - their minds are set in stone and their positions are fixed. Any post that attempts to be a thoughtful treatment of atheism or religion is like chum in the water.

Fundamentalism in any religious tradition can be dangerous.

Hinduism is demonstrably older than your stupid fucking religion even thinks the universe existed. :palm:

Young earth creationism.

Fundamentalism in any religious tradition can be dangerous.

Agreed since Fundamentalism = Extremism. Extremism being useful in only a few, narrow circumstances such as suicide bombers and Kamikaze pilots.

The question is... did they have a choice? In the case of suicide bombers, they were willing, no matter what.

I've always been curious to know which posters actually believe that Young Earth horse shit. I see you've gotten 38 pages worth of responses. Can't wait to dive in and see the whack jobs confirm themselves. I see Earl groaned your OP, so there's one.

I was one of them. I woke up.
