Blowing Off The Pandemic Produced Inflation

Hello Sirthinksalot,

Hi Politalker,

Respectfully, you are absolutely WRONG! Overreacting to the pandemic caused inflation. We unnecessarily shut down large swaths of our economy and started paying people more money not to work than they were making at their jobs. The federal government (yes I'm blaming Trump for this too) greatly increased the money supply at the same time as supplies have plummeted. That is what caused inflation.

Inflation is raging all over the world. How did American policy cause all that inflation in other countries?

Hello Sirthinksalot,

I forgot to mention the Biden administration's attack on fossil fuels. That raised the cost of EVERYTHING. It raised production costs, the cost to transport goods, the cost of operating stores, and it's going to cost individuals more to fuel up their cars, heat their homes, keep the lights on etc.

If we would have taken the correct preemptive measures to reduce climate change it would cost less in the long run because we have eaten it anyway in increased property insurance costs.

And that process will only continue and get worse.

Speaking of eating,....you and your kind should learn to love the taste of bugs and grubs now so you get used to it. If you can even get any when the time comes that is....;)

Hi Politalker,

They made the same mistakes we did, often even worse than we did. Shut down their economies and paid people to not work. Thankfully Trump allowed states to make their own decisions, rather than taking the approach the democrats advocated, namely acting like a dictator and forcing the entire country to shut down.

Hi Politalker,

No matter what WE would have done, the rest of the world was still emitting CO2. There is nothing to be gained by the US reducing its CO2 output even to zero. As long as China and India continue increasing output, which they will, whatever we do makes no difference.

The pandemic never had to get so bad.

We had a terrible lack of leadership in the beginning.

People got the idea it was OK to deny, ignore and pretend.

You cannot deny, ignore and pretend your way out of a pandemic.

If you try, the pandemic says that you and you get terrible inflation after a while.

People are blaming Biden because it is getting intense now, but Biden didn't cause this.

Biden is part of the solution. We are lucky to have him and Harris on the job. They are doing a good job.

Not a very well thought out thing to say. We are responsible for 20% of the emissions even though we are only 5% of the world population.

Also, we are a world leader, a trend-setter. The world has looked to us to set the pace. They take their queue from us.

An interesting but idiotic post.
Are all black Americans in NY between the ages of 18-44? 72+28=100

Since 59% of black Americans in NY over the age of 15 have received at least one dose according to NY how can 72% of them be denied service? 59+72 = 131
https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/demographic-vaccination-data

The rate for whites in NY of at least one dose is 62%
If you think Billy Prempeh is intelligent then you must be less intelligent than he is.

Gosh. I'll bet there is no inflation in Florida if your theory is correct.

Hi Politalker

Can you tell me what the best estimate of the projected temperature would be if the US cut its CO2 emissions to zero and the rest of the world stayed the same?

Speaking of not well thought out things to say...
The rest of the world does NOT take its cue from us. They may cooperate with us, but its because we exert economic and sometimes military pressure on them. Most of the rest of the world resents us. Please don't pretend they look up to us as a child looks up to a mentor that they admire. It's silly and Pollyanne-ish.

Also, we're straying away from the thread topic.

Gosh, Florida isn't a closed economic system, is it? It's affected by outside factors. But thanks for demonstrating that what I posted sailed high over your head.

The US is also not a closed economic system so Biden is no more responsible for the US inflation than DeSantis is for the Florida inflation. But you can't seem to get that into your head as evidenced by your idiotic response.

The UN said 2.7.

The world has to deal with us because we are in everybody's face. If we adopt new aggressive climate policy and advise or advocate for the rest of the world comply, they will take their queue from us on that. Like us or not (and a lot of disapproval comes from Trump,) we are powerful enough that the rest of the world pays a price if they do not comply. Less powerful nations do not wish to fall out of favor with more powerful nations. We try to be as diplomatic as possible, and more of that comes from Democrats than Republicans, but our economic power is something to be reckoned with.
