the single most important takeaway of the rittenhouse trial

No in a straw purchase the guy illegally purchasing the gun has unrestricted use of the gun. Rittenhouse did not possess the gun it was locked in a gun safe in his friend's home. He only got to use it at an adult's discretion. NO ONE has been convicted of a straw purchase yet.

"Rittenhouse and his friend, Dominick Black, testified that Black, who was 18 at the time, used Rittenhouse's money to purchase the weapon at a Wisconsin hardware store in May 2020. The two reportedly agreed that Black would keep the gun until Rittenhouse turned 18 in January 2021, according to court testimony.

Black is now being prosecuted for participating in the illegal straw purchase of the weapon on behalf of Rittenhouse. But Rittenhouse's possession of the firearm at the time was technically legal."

And the same DA who's office just got slaughtered is prosecuting the case. Since Rittenhouse did not have unfettered access to the gun I doubt the DA will win this one either. If Rittenhouse had taken the gun to his house then it would have been a straw purchase. The gun was in a safe in a different state. If you buy a gun with the bank's money is it the bank's gun? Don't count your chickens before the eggs hatch.

This goes beyond my comment. According to law, Dominick Black made a straw purchase. How it resolves is a different matter.

If Black gives it to Rittenhouse as a gift its legal. Its not a straw purchase till a jury says it is or Black pleas guilty. You are not a Judge or Jury. I bet you said Rittenhouse was guilty too. How did that turn out for you?

You know how it turned out for her.

My understanding is that the rifle was purchased with Kyle's money but was Dominick's property until Kyle turned 18. Ergo, the rifle was owned by Dominick Black and was lent to Kyle Rittenhouse. Lending something to a friend isn't a crime, generally.

First off, Rittenhouse was not found not guilty of killing these guys. He did kill these guys. He was found to be acting in self defense and thus, was not guilty of murder. It's lame bullshit like this that makes me weary debating with people who can't get even the most basic OBVIOUS facts right.

What'd you expect? Many leftists can't even identify their own gender.

I expect the charges will be dropped. The DA won't want to lose another case involving Rittenhouse.

:dunno:

Judge Schroeder's dismissal of the weapons charge is far more significant for Dominick Black than it was for Kyle Rittenhouse, IMO.

Black could also face federal gun charges for making a straw purchase. I suspect Biden's secret police are slavering for revenge on someone, anyone.

But, before August 25, Kyle had shot the rifle once, at Dominick’s family’s range in Ladysmith. After the single shooting, the rifle had been kept in the gun safe belonging to Dominick’s stepfather, at Dominick’s residence. There was no substantial transfer of the rifle to Kyle. This is important. A “straw purchase” under federal law requires a substantial transfer, not a short and temporary transfer. A rifle can be loaned to a friend for a hunting trip, for example, without the transfer creating a “straw purchase”.

Yep.

What I got out of the Rittenhouse trial is that Boston can't be in the same country as Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Fucking flyover country assholes.
