Top Ten States In COVID Deaths Per Million

Idaho has 2,294 deaths per million. You would expect next door Washington and Oregon to have far more, being more densely populated, and having more interconnections with the world. You would be wrong, Oregon has 1,327, and Washington has 1,291. Idaho even with its natural advantages still has such poor governance that it has twice the death rates...

Actually, the numbers are misleading. Idaho's health system has been so overwhelmed that they have been sending huge numbers of their worst cases out of state. Many of their dead are being counted in other states. Idaho is really three or four times worse. This has been a horrible failure for red states.

Florida doubled the # of daily new cases.

DeSantis killed 10,000 people in Florida, but promised that it would get rid of Covid-19. It certainly reduced the new cases... For a few weeks, but they are looking at many more deaths coming down the pike.

Hello Walt,

You would expect to see California at the top of the list, it is more connected to the source (China), and has denser population numbers. It was hit early, so had less treatment options, giving its hard won treatment knowledge to later states hit.

It is almost like California, and other Blue states are doing something right, while Red states are not.

No doubt of it.

California is being sensibly run.

California actually values life over political power.

Idaho has a substantially lower vaccination rate than El Salvador, Panama, and Mexico.

Hello Dutch,

:hij:
Part of my post is sarcasm against your claim. Part is the reality of the situation, the context.

Making the claims "California is being sensibly run" and "California actually values life over political power" is disputed by my comment....which you now claim is a thread hijack.

Fine. I'll leave if that's what you want.

Excellent point. Once the health system of a red state is overwhelmed, and it begins sending critically ill patients to a blue state, if those patients die, those deaths are counted as blue state deaths. There are no blue states where the hospitals have become so overwhelmed that they send critically ill patients to red states.

It is a thread about how states are comparatively doing on COVID.

There is a difference between a Democratic state placing restrictions to create a sensible approach and Republican states actually making laws that prevent cities from making sensible restrictions. That is getting more people killed.

Here's the difference:

"California’s indoor mask mandate is now in effect"

"Judge rules Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's ban on school mask mandates violates federal law
The lawsuit, brought by families of disabled students, argued that Abbott's order denied children with pre-existing conditions equal access to a safe education."

And then we look at the numbers and we see that California is doing better than Texas.

Texas deaths per million: 2,611

California deaths per million: 1,932.

Sending patients from blue areas to red areas would just make no sense.

Lily white Idaho proves Deplorables were being racists when they attempted to blame Hispanics and blacks for low vaccination rates in red states.

There has been a massive effort by Black and Hispanic community leaders to get their people vaccinated. They saw a problem, and they worked tirelessly to solve it.

Meanwhile the alt right community leaders are crazy, just like everyone else in the alt right community.

Thanks for the correction that California is only good about their mask policies and that you didn't intend for your two statements to be taken generally: "California is being sensibly run" and "California actually values life over political power"

Why do you think the alt-right, Black and Hispanic communities were/are anti-vax?

If good, sound leadership was the solution for Black and Hispanic communities, why do you believe it won't work for other communities such as the alt-right? There's a lot more anti-vaxxers than alt-right assholes.

Why do you think the alt-right, Black and Hispanic communities were/are anti-vax?

The Black and Hispanic communities could better be described as vaccine skeptical, but all three groups are just scared. The world has beaten up all three groups, and they are scared of anything new, because they think it will beat them up too.

The Black and Hispanic community leaders took a look at the vaccines, realized they would save lives, and advocated for them. The alt right community leaders saw they could get more power by opposing vaccines and killing their own people, and went that direction. That is why the alt right is anti-vaccine.

If good, sound leadership was the solution for Black and Hispanic communities, why do you believe it won't work for other communities such as the alt-right? There's a lot more anti-vaxxers than alt-right assholes.

The alt right does not have good leadership... But why?

The alt right is linked to a collapse in community as it is traditionally understood. They have fewer jobs, they attend church less often, and they do not join conventional civic organizations. Their leaders become leaders not by leading well, but by delivering outrage. There is no outrage in supporting a vaccine that saves lives, just sound leadership.
