'Importing' cheap labor is a talking point.
Our economy depends upon migrant workers in the fields, and in meat processing plants. If you want to demand American labor in every market, I'm with you.
But you cannot turn around and complain about vastly higher prices for food.
It's a delicate balance.
Now...illegals working at construction jobs has become an issue in the last two decades. If you want to crack down on this, then drop a dime on your local contractors.
Althea: "'Importing' cheap labor is a talking point."
Jack: Yes. Yes, people are talking about it. How many people will be allowed into the US. One Million? Five Million? Ten Million? Twenty Million? Fifty Million? Do you have a Number?
Althea: "Our economy depends upon migrant workers in the fields, and in meat processing plants. If you want to demand American labor in every market, I'm with you."
Jack: The 'Migrants' have probably been here 20 years. If you granted them citizenship, they wouldn't be 'Migrants', they would be 'Americans', with all the Rights Americans have like Social Security, Unemployment, and all the rest. No fear of being Deported.
Althea: "But you cannot turn around and complain about vastly higher prices for food."
Jack: I'm not complaining about food prices. Anyone who is, needs to go out and pick lettuce for a week.
Althea: "It's a delicate balance."
Jack: No it's not. It's about Capitalists taking advantage of the Working Class.
Althea: "Now...illegals working at construction jobs has become an issue in the last two decades. If you want to crack down on this, then drop a dime on your local contractors."
Jack: No Worker is going to 'drop a dime' on a Brother Worker. Everybody wants to feed their Family.
It's a political decision that the Capitalists like just like it is. A Workforce that is in fear of Deportation.
