So, You Want $15 An Hour?

The last thing in the world we need right now is MORE HUMAN WORKERS. They are relatively inefficient. Is there anyone who thinks it wise to dig foundations of buildings using humans with shovels? Is there anyone who thinks it wise to cut a tunnel through a mountain with humans using shovels and axes?

Why do we have 100% of politicians running for office who promise to create more jobs (more work) rather than more leisure time (less work)?

We are so fucked up!

:) That's MY position.

An accurate observation, perhaps, but not a promising one.
I've now lived long enough to see my country go all the way to hell in a handbasket.
It will never return with "moderate" solutions, and we're mentally incapable of committing to more than that.
We're officially Rome with the Goths at the gate. Say Goodnight, Gracie.

Try to maintain a positive attitude, Nifty.

Only if you resort to such special pleading, which is usually considered a fallacy. A better scenario would be the minimum wage at fifteen an hour and unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed at seven dollars and fifty cents an hour.

So you think it's better that one person work than 2. Got it.

Sure, if one person can get paid more and, the other person can obtain unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed under capitalism and acquire more value to be worth more.

LMBO. You think that not working is valuable. You people get funnier and funner. No wonder we are where we are.

Because the Rich already won that privilege and immunity by getting their multimillion dollar bonuses from corporate welfare instead of individual welfare?

That's stupid.

I own two successful businesses. I make an extremely comfortable living and, yeah, I guess I do better than most. But I can assure you, I've never gotten a "multi million dollar bonus from corporate welfare".

So, why should I have to pay someone who doesn't work?

Sorry about that. This is what I meant by the Rich, in this case:

From 1978 to 2018, CEO compensation grew by 1,007.5% (940.3% under the options-realized measure), far outstripping S&P stock market growth (706.7%) and the wage growth of very high earners (339.2%). In contrast, wages for the typical worker grew by just 11.9%.

You didn't answer the question.

Hardly surprising...

What about capitalism? Paying people not ot working isn't capitalism but I'll let you explain how it is.

Capitalism doesn't work without consumers. To be a consumer, one has to have money. We can keep the money from the consumers so that the billionaires can store art in vaults...or get the money to consumers so capitalism can work.

The morons of the right seem unable to understand that part of the equation.

Are you a Socialist? Capitalism doesn't care about a work ethic and even encourages employment at the will of either party.

I am the farthest thing you've ever met from a socialist. Capitalism sure does care about a work ethic but when you artificially raise the price of doing business you will get less labor.
