Of course not and if Biden turned down the deal the right would would be screaming the SOB left an American in Russia when he could have gotten her out, impeach him! But since he did get her out they are screaming the SOB should have gotten someone else out, impeach him!

IIRC, he's only 55. Putin wanted him for a reason.

Worse, IMO, is negotiating with terrorists and blackmailers since it encourages them to do more. While the rule isn't universal, the fact remains that Putin gained more than he gave in this transaction and he will be encouraged to ask for more in exchange for Whelan.

Actually, in this case, I think the GQP would have been perfectly fine with him leaving Griner to languish.

After all, she is the epitome of "woke liberalism".

And honestly, after the way she refused to stand for the National Anthem in alignment with misguided BLM, I didn't 100% blame them for feeling that way.

I felt her sentence was way too harsh for her "crime" but also that a year or two in a Russian prison might give her a whole new appreciation for the country she so selfishly and publicly snubbed.

At any rate, Biden did what he had to and should have.

The guy they traded her for was nearing the end of his sentence anyway and he knows he's going to be watched if he tries to go back into business again.

I know why he took her and I know why he should have held out for both of them. But it's no surprise... the press conference made it clear... I'm not unhappy she's home... I'm unhappy that Paul is not... that being said she knew what she was doing she's been playing in Russia since 2014... I hope the plane played this on a loop the whole way home...
