There was nothing to run in since they don't hold elections, they choose by appointment.

This guy used some obscure procedures to declare himself mayor.

Nobody he talked to even knew the procedure for registering as a mayoral candidate because they don't do it like that.

They didn't hold elections because the local good ol boy network simply passed the job from one racist hillbilly to another.

The "obscure procedure" used by Braxton is called Alabama state law:

Elections in mayor-council municipalities are conducted pursuant to the general
municipal election laws pertaining to mayor-council cities and towns. These
laws are codified at Sections 11-46-20 through 11-46-74, Code of Alabama, 1975.
Absentee ballot laws applicable to municipal elections are codified at Sections
17-11-1 through 17-11-19, Code of Alabama 1975.

Braxton talked to the Alabama Secretary of State's office, who advised him of the proper procedure.

You go right on ignoring the law and playing devil's advocate...the law is on Braxton's side.

I don't really care who ends up being the mayor of this little shit town.

If he has the law behind him then so be it.

However it would also mean that anything the mayors or city council members before him did can be legally thrown out since they were never officially elected in.

That's going to cause a shit storm.

Before Braxton was elected, no one had challenged how things were done, so I don't see anyone trying to get anything done in the past thrown out.

But now that Braxton has forced this little town into the 21st century and follow Alabama Election law, the butthurt rednecks who used to run things should just admit he is the new Mayor.

Nope you are wrong.

Since they never held an election and nobody ever filed to run under the laws you stated that means everything the mayors or city council members have done is null and void since they weren't authorized to do it.

That could mean anything from a city tax to a local ordinance.

I imagine this little town will be having to pay out some major restitution for their illegal activity, I would sue for something if I lived there.
