I don't think it's stupidity. It's more like cult behavior.
Anyone who went all in on Trump years ago can't see the forest for the trees anymore. They're stuck in the cult mentality. Some who have come out of it have spoken about what a struggle it is to break free.
But man, when you have to convince yourself that "everyone else is lying," and not just go w/ the obvious, 'maybe it's the pathological liar who is lying'.....you're pretty far gone.

I used to know some intelligent Trumpers, but they have all admitted they were wrong or died in the last few years.

They were smart people, but both tragically flawed. My FIL took ivermectin for a week before going to the hospital and dying after 6 weeks on a vent.

I learned in grade school to evaluate information.
They did also... but like I said, I really do not know any intelligent people anymore who admit to liking Trump.
Even Damocles, the most intelligent Conservative here admits he does not like Trump.
Romney, Buck, Cheney and a lot more have quit the Trumpper party over it.

I think we already know the heartbreaking deficiencies of trumpanzee mutants.
We haven't and won't see all the evidence that will be presented in the various courtrooms,
and that's what's actually needed to make a reasonable judgment of his guilt or innocence.
Intuitively, however, a sane person will pretty much be suspecting
that Trump's as guilty as a man can be.
Still, he could skate.
Neither the universe in which we reside
not the species of which we're a part
supports the theory that all men are equal.
At best, we're inferior, equal, or superior
on a trait by trait basis only--not in general status--
and the fates are NEVER going to regard us as generally being equals.
Nobody should be surprised if Trump skates.
