No, they're not. They're defending criminals. By definition someone who is illegally in the US is a criminal. They aren't here legally. The level of criminality may be minor or extremely serious, but they are criminals.

Complex question fallacy. I don't support the Jan 6 riot or rioters. I can at the same time say the actions of Lt. Byrd were those of an incompetent coward and likely resulted in a criminal death at his hands.
I can, at the same time, say that Good's shooting was a reasonable action by a law enforcement officer.
