Trump doesn't get to unilaterally decide when his war ends.

Now that he's started it and now that Trump has created an even more hardline Iranian government, they get to decide when American-affliated shipping gets to pass through the strait. Short of a Trumpian invasion of Iran to control the strait, Iran is going to extract a concession from Trump to open the strait.

Agreed. He's kicked over a hornet's nest despite strong advise not to do so and now he's desperate to shove all the hornets back into the nest.

Asking for help from all the allies he's shit all over for the past several years didn't work. Threats against Iran didn't work. He's killed off the leadership, or so he claims, which begs the question of with whom he is negotiating.

Agreed about blood in the water. The Iranians gotta know that Trump has no moves here except to make the situation worse for everyone or to capitulate and apologize.
