This is a strong indication that Trump is "unwell" and can't tell when his own staff are holding back on him. Is there any doubt that Susie has expressed her concerns to Donnie and that he's simply blown her off like he did General Caine?

He's mentally ill, if not demented, and only sees what he wants to see.

I really don't know what her role is, other than to be gatekeeper for people who are allowed to see him, and managing the day to day affairs of WH staff.

Trump has built a culture of over the top sycophancy due to his massive insecurities needing to fed non stop with people telling him how right and smart he is.

That is one thing when it comes to minor issues like him needing anyone who serves as White House doctor to say he is more fit than Obama was and is the most fit POTUS in history and quite another when it's an unnecessary war that had he good advisors he would not have tripped in to.

Susie has been his Poll whisperer and mostly trusted by Trump when it came to that.

She was able to discern between what was regular outrage porn reports due to Trump actions and the ones that were a legit threat to sway voters and to street Trump away from those or give him ways to recover in those.

Chief of Staff is the top position and advisor for the President. Gatekeeper is only part of the job. The problem is Trump only sees and hears what he wants to see and hear. Even if the advice from his staff is sugar-coated, I'm certain that the ones who are professionals are slipping in the truth.

Example:
"Mr. President, you are the greatest war time leader we've ever had. The Iranians are slippery snakes and have proved to be more resilient than our intelligence first indicated. Our allies are not backing up our play and it appears we should simply back off and let this go."

She should tell him herself if she hasn't already. Anyway, someone as media obsessed with himself as Trump is would know without being told. I suspect Trump well knows but has decided to bluster through as he's so often done in the past and hope this one isn't just too fucking big.
