I predict that the S&P 500 will be well under 5,000 by September 30th

I've been on this board, and its predecessors, for 25 years. This thread is in the running for #1 all time.

On the surface it looks like a simple market prediction. In reality it was politics expressed through a market prediction. That in and of itself isn't unique. What's made it iconic is the lengths Walt has gone through to deny that simple fact.

At this point the prediction itself is almost secondary. The real entertainment has been watching the rewrites, rationalizations, and moving goalposts.

Excellent observation! Well said.

I haven't been on here anywhere near as long as you have, but I do agree that this is one of the "all time" best threads. It is entertainment GOLD!

This is a very astute and accurate observation.

Unless and until Walter is willing to admit that this thread was driven by his politics expressed through a market prediction, he will continue to err in the same manner and will continue with his rewrites, rationalizations, and goalpost shifts.

A reminder for never truthful @Walt , the S&P closed at $7403
I have moved on to Brent now. Brent is at $110.44. BNO is at $58.10. BNO 07/17/2026 48 Call options are at $13.50(bought at an average of $8). That means I have made... a tidy sum. Anyway, it could go either way by July 17th. I have sell orders in for $29.50.

By the way, I honestly made a prediction, and an investment based on that prediction. That makes me truthful. The S&P 500 is an index number, not a dollar amount. It closed at 7,403.05... No dollar sign.
