Gun Shows and Firearm Trafficking​

In many other states, these events are relatively unregulated and may feature both licensed dealers, who are required to conduct background checks to sell firearms under federal law, as well as many unlicensed sellers offering firearms, ammunition, and related products without background checks, sale records, or other safety requirements. As a result, without appropriate precautions and oversight, these events may become a magnet for prohibited purchasers and firearms traffickers in particular.

Under California law, unlike in many other states, sales and transfers of firearms and sales of ammunition must generally be conducted by or processed through licensed firearms dealers or ammunition vendors, whether or not those sales or transfers are conducted at a gun show . These licensees are responsible for conducting background checks and ensuring compliance with other requirements, such as California's firearm waiting period and Firearm Safety Certificate requirements. California has also adopted some of the nation's most comprehensive laws specifically governing gun show events, producers, dealers, and vendors.

You just confirmed what I told you. Manufacturers just had to modify them and the millions of 30 round magazines were all grandfathered.

The title of the second paragraph is CRIME GUNS BOUGHT AT SHOWS ARE ON THE RISE.

Think, gun monkey, THINK! The guns are initially bought legitimate, then taken to a gun show and sold to any yahoo with cash without background checks. That's one way how they wind up in criminal hands.

1. Person A is NOT a criminal .... no DUI or DWI arrests, no illegal drug use/selling/possession arrests, no public or domestic disturbances, pays their bills on time, pays taxes. Not so much as even a parking ticket.

2. Person B is a criminal with a rap sheet .... did time, finished their parole.

3. Person B cannot by law own a gun .... BUT their friend, Person A can. They both live in a state where the gun laws are considered very lax as compared to other states. In state #2, it is a high standard for a citizen with no criminal record to obtain a gun license.

4. Person A buys one or more guns, legal by state law. Since there is no requirement for a private sale of said gun(s), Person A can sell to Person B to be registered, so the gun can change multiple hands before getting to Person B.

5. Person B travels to relocates to another state, smuggling the guns (which can be smuggled also by Person A for the transaction). In state #2, he (and possibly an accomplice) commit crimes with guns they could not get in that state even if they didn't have criminal records.

6. Look up the phrase "iron pipeline" and how it relates to various states and gun crimes.

Like I said, they are not a criminal until they buy a gun for someone who is forbidden from doing it themselves. Then they have committed a felony.

No kidding? I never said different, I just pointed out the process. Also, you may want to consider that same criminals with records can go to gun shows in a lot of states and buy guns cash on the table without a background check waiting period. When all is said and done, the "Iron Pipeline" exists .... and would be crippled if guns were treated like cars regarding registrations and ownership transfers. Just saying.
