attraction to that idea and that attraction, like the ad hoc methods employed after the 2020 election, after Jan. 6, after stealing
the documents, after the subpoenas, after the myriad investigations, after all the dysfunction that's followed since but never stopped him, not even seriously got in his way. I think Trump may just be stalling for time and hoping something bails him out as has happened for him so many times in the past. If it doesn't all bets are off.

Trump may launch another limited strike to look tough and satisfy the demands of the war’s supporters, but it would be a performative gesture. Endgame in this case is a euphemism for “surrender.”
