She was forced out. A cancer diagnosis doesn't wait 6 weeks. In fact the first couple of weeks are often crucial.

If this was the real reason she would be resigning effective immediately.

That's my opinion, too. Not saying the husband doesn't have cancer but it doesn't sound like he's on his death bed either. I guess we can count on him hanging on until June 30th at the earliest.

She's not resigning and storming off for political reasons, she's giving over a month's notice which is more than anyone could ask for what she and her husband are about to go through. If it was true the resignation would be "effective immediately", not in 6 weeks.
 
In an interview with KDWN's Alan Stock, Rep. Joe Heck today appeared to agree with the right-wing talker when he said that Gabby Giffords, "who can't even clap her hands," is being used as "a prop" by gun control advocates.

Heck did not protest Stock's outrageous characterization of Giffords. He simply agreed and moved on to discuss 2nd Amendment Rights being infringed. Heck spokesman Greg Lemon, in damage control mode, suggested later that Heck did not agree with that part of Stock's remarks and does not think Giffords is a prop.
