We should honor the millions of civilians the US has murdered around the globe.
Of course they are upset ... any parent would be ..but Tyler was doing exactly what he had always wanted to do and loved doing .... he often spoke in public to groups about his love of being able to serve his country ....his parents also knew that.... it is a reality that any parent or family member has to accept when their loved ones make the choice to join the military... there is always a possibility of tragedy...
Three Memorial years ago I was sitting in a San Diego bar listening to the gay kids from Nebraska brag about how much money they were making with hazard pay. They were planning how they'd spend their retirement in 18 more years.

Other countries have killed far more civilians than the US.
Should we honor Kamikaze pilots too? War sucks. My uncle was killed in Korea.
This may have changed, but Korea War Vets aren't eligible under the VA. That is bullshit.
The Geneva Conventions created humanitarian laws of war -- if that makes any sense. That means I'm not allowed to kill your family if I'm fighting with you. The US is targeting the children of Russian and Iranian leaders. If we don't stop the criminals in our government, the global majority certainly will.
Korean War vets are, and have always been eligible under the VA. I have a half dozen Korean War veteran relatives, and even lost one relative in that war. They are all considered wartime veterans according to the VA, and were always considered wartime veterans.
