White people set to become minority in US by 2050 - 13 years before Britain

Even in China now, when people hear the word 'American,' what comes to mind are Hispanic or Mexican people, or Black and Indian (referring to the Asian country, not Native Americans). That is just how things are. I think the United States has been on an irreversible path toward diversity for the past thirty years or so. And in the last twenty years, this trend has become especially clear. Now, when people think of the concept of 'American,' they rarely picture those blonde-haired, blue-eyed people from Northern Europe as the main image of an American.

I think people should give up the idea that the United States is a white Christian nation. It is true that in the past, people(at least in China) had the impression that when thinking of America, what came to mind first were white people and Christianity. But the reality is that the coexistence of many ethnic groups and cultures in American society is a fact that can no longer be changed. There is no need to struggle with this issue.
RWers and MAGATs aren't as concerned with the fact that America is composed of many religions, cultures, nationalities, races, languages, etc. What they fear is Whites no longer controlling the government, the economy, the culture. In fact, they'd prefer it if only White males held all the power.

WTF does Melania have to do with it? Did she bring her culture with her and try to change existing American culture?

It's no wonder you're thought of as an idiot...
Language is a big part of their culture. MAGA morons are always raging about Hispanics not speaking in English. You've undoubtedly raged about the language issue yourself.

So after bashing immigrants, it does not bother you in the least that your Messiah's wife has not bothered to learn to speak proficient English after 35 years living here.

Haha. I think what they (correctly) had in mind was the growth of the Hispanic community, and to a lesser extent the growth of the Asian community.

The thought being if HIspanics voted for Dems at close to the rate that black do, then Dems were going to be very difficult to beat. And that's certainly true.

However Hispanics, and Asians, have shown more diverse voting patterns compared to black voters. So it hasn't turned out as expected and you hear less of the demographics = destiny talk from them today.

My view is that, to a significant extent, it was those white people who made the United States the world's only superpower it is today. But that is the past. Now, a considerable portion of white people do not have the qualities needed to keep the United States in that position. The ship has already left the port. At this point, the United States truly needs immigrants from countries around the world.

Of course, this view of mine may be considered racist by quite a few Americans. But that's fine. It's just my personal opinion, and I never insist that it is correct.

Here's where I would push back. Take Clarence Thomas as a proxy. He's the most popular justice for many right-wingers. And many liberals, who say they want more diversity, want him off the court. The reason for both isn't race, it's ideology.

Right-wingers didn't go soft on, or support, Biden because he's a white male.

More black people and Hispanic people voted for Trump in '24. I'm guessing the idea that we need more white males in office wasn't necessarily at the top of their thought process.

2028 is a long way away but I've heard those in the #MAGA movement already hyping up Marco Rubio, a Cuban.

I'm not saying race plays no factor. But ideology will trump race most of the time for people on the right and left.

@Cypress is clearly smarter than you, the "poorly educated", Trump mocks you for being, so you should not throw stones.

That you do not understand that Melania is doing the EXACT THING you magats attack other cultures for doing, just shows how stupid you are.

All of the main points you guys criticize Melania has done, with both herself and her son, as he pointed out.

🤣🤣🤣🤣And that's why it's just so perfect and the reason I've had it for my signature for all these years...

The SF Chronicle had a big series the past week on the growth of the Indian population in the Bay Area. Here's the political portion of it:

Indian Americans are now an influential voter bloc — but divided on key issues

Indian Americans, Salwan said, are “thriving.” Their high political engagement reflects that. About 70% of Indian Americans voted in 2024, compared with 65% in the overall population, according to an analysis by demographic organization AAPI Data.

“They feel safe that they have elected officials in leadership that look like them and can listen to their concerns,” Salwan said.

But as Indian political power has grown, fissures have also emerged. While Indian Americans historically tended to lean Democratic and still do, the Republican party has gained modest support from the community since 2020. And key issues, from affirmative action to taxing tech leaders, are dividing these voters.

Perhaps no contest reflects the change in political dynamics more than the congressional race in which Khanna, whose district spans the most heavily Indian parts of Silicon Valley, is being challenged in the primary by two Indian American opponents — both to his right.

It's never really about language and culture.

It just all comes down to how MAGA morons feel about Mexicans, Central Americans, Syrians.

Rightwingers have been raging for decades about Hispanics talking in Spanish and not putting in the effort to speak proficient English.

But then they are quiet as church mice when a rich Slovenian immigrant never becomes proficient in English even after living here 35 years, and then teaches her son Slovenian as his first language.

Yes, I'm aware of the Hispanic anomaly.

We Floridians heard quite a bit about how well trump did with Hispanic/latino voters in 2024.

They are partly/largely responsible for him carrying Florida.

Though I think most of them regret their choice now.

But the N4T thing was real, too.

Not in the same kind of numbers as Hispanics, but an increase over previous elections.

For a number of years Democratic consultants took the position that demographics = destiny. Thus, the more diverse the U.S. becomes the better for the Democrats.

In reality that hasn't necessarily been the case. Just as white people don't vote monolithically, minorities don't as well.
Ahh, but remember that since Reagan the GOP has systematically worked to undermine and reverse EVERYTHING that FDR's New Deal and the Civil Rights Acts had done. Also, when people sense a chance that a candidate can serve their interests, they will vote ... case in point, the surge is black voters for Obama.

I know several who left S. Africa for Australia. And one lives down the road from us; he's a software engineer with Tesla. He doesn't think of himself as a "refugee," and neither does our friend Catherine who also hailed from S.A. She holds dual citizenship, American and S. African, but couldn't abide by the current political climate in the U.S. She emigrated to Albania (!) last year.
Classic.

As I understand the demographics = destiny argument, the more non-white the U.S. became it was going to be beneficial to the Democrats politically. They weren't discounting black voters, but it was really about the growth of Hispanic and Asian immigrants. And if these new Hispanic and Asian voters voted Democratic anywhere near the same level as black voters, then the Democrats were going to be extremely hard to beat.

What we've seen though is while Hispanic and Asian voters do lean Democratic, they are far from monolithic thus why we hear less of that demographics = destiny phrase from the Dem consultants.

What do you mean by "get along"?
Racism remains rampant to this day, 250 years in. There'd be no Trump presidency if it weren't for racism. It's not a matter of how we'd LIKE diversity to work. It's a matter of being honest about how it's actually working. Most social liberals on this forum are unable to do that. I think that I'm the only socially conservative but fiscally hard left socialist on this forum.

I find that very frustrating. Perhaps I've already been lurking for too long, even though it's been only a month.

Ahh, but when one of the cornerstones of thst ideology is racism, you can understand why a population shift is significant.

White Americans will become a minority group in the US for the first time in the country's history by 2050, according to fresh projections from the US Census Bureau.

The data reveals a dramatic transformation in the nation's ethnic composition over seven decades - just 40 years ago, around 80 per cent of all Americans were white.

Declining birth rates among white Americans are also accelerating the shift.

The changes are expected to reach their peak impact between 2040 and 2050.

They represent one of the most rapid population shifts in the US since the first European settlement was established more than 400 years ago.

Will you begin extermination plans immediately when white people are no longer the majority?

What if the Hispanic majority decides to wipe out Arabs first?
