I have yet to hear from the defense that Karmelo that he feared for his life or be hurt bad if he didn’t take action. In fact more than one witness said that Austin told Karmelo I’m not going to fight you at a track meet.

And not once by an adult that had any authority? If a gang of teens surround you, shove you, scream at you that you have to leave, that starts sounding like self defense.

I get it. I was an athlete too. They think they own the school. The law says differently.


Stand your ground state, so of no legal importance. Anthony was not required to retreat.


What did the adult say? You are putting a lot of stock in the rules as said by kids. The adults, who actually have authority, told them to just leave Anthony alone.

I respect the right not to testify. I would not hold silence against a defendant.

But self-defense still requires more than simply suggesting “fear.” If the defendant does not testify, then the defense needs to produce other credible evidence that lets the jury understand why deadly force was reasonable in that exact moment.

From what I have read, they failed to do that. I am not filling in the blanks for him.

Based on what has been presented, guilty would be my vote.

The defense asked the judge to include “criminally negligent homicide”. That was denied.

They know he is cooked

I would not consider News Max to be a 'national coverage' example

Appeals usually do not get the same attention because they are less emotional and more procedural.

nothing will stop you from crying and whining though
