The paint is now peeling at Trump's $14 million reflecting pool "renovation"

I haven't denied saying what I said here.

The genetic fallacy point was made in response to his specific reply in this thread.

Cross-chat differences are a known limitation of how Grok works (stateless per conversation for privacy reasons).

That's not an "excuse" — it's how the system is built.

Provide full context and you get consistent reasoning.

Still waiting for an actual counter on the debt/sovereign bankruptcy substance instead of prompt engineering.

The water used to fill this basin came from the Potomac River....the Potomac waterway was recently named the most endangered river in the country, largely due to aging wastewater infrastructure and agricultural runoff. Combine that shit with a unqualified pool contractor and this is what $13 Million and COUNTING gets you. But to hear Trump and his white house tell it, somebody on the outside dove into the water and started pealing off its surface....SMH on when this orange mothherfucker will ever take ownership of is never ending failures.1782099753463.png and then to back up his lies, he calls in the National Guard to gaslight reality and make his false claims legit. I loathe this man.

This is a highly partisan, hyperbolic rant from a left-leaning forum (Just Plain Politics), typical of echo-chamber political threads criticizing Trump.

Key Claims in the Post

  • Water from the Potomac River (endangered due to wastewater/agricultural runoff) + unqualified contractor = peeling paint and failures after ~$13–14M.
  • Trump/White House blame outsiders ("somebody dove in and started peeling").
  • Trump never takes ownership of "never-ending failures."
  • National Guard used to "gaslight reality."

Factual Context (as of mid-June 2026)

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovation was a rushed Trump administration project ahead of the U.S. 250th anniversary. It involved resurfacing/painting the bottom "American flag blue" (Trump's preference), with a no-bid contract to a firm (Atlantic Industrial Coatings) lacking extensive federal experience and reportedly tied to Trump associates. Initial estimates were lower (~$1–2M or $10M+), but costs reached ~$14M. The pool was drained, worked on quickly, and refilled around early June 2026.

Problems quickly emerged:

  • Algae bloom: Turned the water green shortly after refilling — the largest June bloom in years per some reports. Historical issue (e.g., Obama-era $34M renovation in 2012 also saw rapid algae/bird waste recurrence). Crews used hydrogen peroxide to treat it, which can strip epoxy/paint.
  • Peeling paint/coating: Blue material seen floating/peeling days/weeks later. Contractor noted images didn't provide full info and maintenance would address issues. Experts cited possible causes: substrate prep, contamination, application conditions, mechanical damage, environmental exposure, or H2O2 treatment. Not definitively "peeling after three days."
Trump's response: Acknowledged issues, blamed "vandalism" (e.g., radicals with chemicals, a gash, or Jonathan Karl's reporting), claimed arrests, and said draining might be needed for repairs. Officials also pointed to stagnant water, dark liner (heat absorption), and old pipes. No independent confirmation of widespread vandalism in reports; it remains disputed.

The pool has long had maintenance challenges (leaks, algae, birds) across administrations. The rushed timeline, specific aesthetic choices, and contracting drew criticism for prioritizing optics over durability.

Assessment

  • Some basis in reality: Water source quality, cost overruns, no-bid elements, and visible problems (algae + delamination/peeling) are documented.
  • Heavy spin and exaggeration: "Unqualified pool contractor," immediate total failure, National Guard "gaslighting," and refusal to ever take ownership are loaded. The post ignores historical context, contractor explanations, treatment side effects (H2O2), and Trump's partial acknowledgment. Typos ("pealing," "mothherfucker," "is never ending") and raw hatred ("I loathe this man") signal emotion over analysis.
  • Classic forum post: Part of an anti-Trump thread mocking the project as a disaster/grift. Opposing views in the thread note prior administrations' failures and contractor uncertainty about the material.
Bottom line: The renovation faced real, visible setbacks shortly after completion, fueling valid questions about execution, haste, and value. However, the post is not a neutral assessment—it's partisan venting that amplifies failures while downplaying complexities and precedents. Reflecting pools in DC are notoriously finicky; quick fixes often don't stick regardless of administration.

And yet because you are poorly educated you are incapable of understanding what I say next.

Rusty, it was not me who identified you as the poorly educated. It was Trump who recognized it and called you out.

I know that has to sting. I see you spinning in denial of it as you refuse to recognize it was Trump as that would require you to contradict him and you cannot do that due to your TDS. so you are trapped in your poorly educated mind pretending it is me, and not Trump who called you out.

It was YOU who, once again, say I am "uneducated." Quit running from your very words.

You haven't proven with your own words that I am "uneducated," You won't, and you cannot.
Trump didn't say I was uneducated. Once again, it was YOU who made that claim.
I'm calling YOU out, now back up your claim or shut up. I'm all in, are you?

... the recently applied blue paint is now peeling off the bottom of the pool.
So the contractor has to fix it on his dime.

Meanwhile, the current algae bloom in the pool is the biggest amount recorded in the month of June in at least five years,
No one ever tracked reflecting pool algae growth, even less by month. You are gullible, but this is nothing new.

You are uneducated, but it was not me who pointed it out. it was Trump Rusty. I will quote him again saying it...

^ That is Trump Rusty. That is him "SAYING IT" and because you are "poorly educated" you struggle to understand that.

I am agreeing with what Trump is saying. I find him to be correct and i do so by watching how you post here. This very post we are arguing over proves it. You cannot even comprehend this is Trump above saying it, and just me affirming i agree with Trump.

So the contractor has to fix it on his dime.
The contractor is Trump's friend. Trump will ensure he doesn't lose money on this deal.
No one ever tracked reflecting pool algae growth, even less by month. You are gullible!
I would think the National Park Service routinely tests the reflecting pool water for algae toxicity and chemical impairment. The National Mall is one of the most heavily trafficked pieces of real estate in America and the National Park Service would undoubtedly take steps to ensure the health and safety of humans around the pool and avian water fowl who use it.

So the contractor has to fix it on his dime.

According to CNN, there is no public confirmation that the contractor (Atlantic Industrial Coatings) must fix the peeling coating at their own expense ("on his dime").

Repairs appear to be handled within the existing government contract — federal records show additional payments to the same firm for work described as within the original scope (e.g., "PAINT LINCOLN REFLECTING POOL"). There’s no indication of withheld payments, penalties, or personal liability.

The Washington Post said so, and other left-leaning propaganda organs repeated the claim. It's based on their "expert" examination of satellite images

Bullshit.
Trump didn't hire them, nor does he have control of the contractors. Quit being a simple Pee Pee.
And yet because you are poorly educated you are incapable of understanding what I say next.

Trump gave a no-bid contract to a neighbor in Mira Lardo. This fiasco falls directly on his lap.

Reflecting Pool Disaster Keeps Growing After $14 Million Renovation

Days after the water in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool turned green from algae, the recently applied blue paint is now peeling off the bottom of the pool.

Meanwhile, the current algae bloom in the pool is the biggest amount recorded in the month of June in at least five years, according to The Washington Post.

The president personally requested "American flag blue" paint in his $14 million renovation of the pool, which didn't go through a required bidding process and was instead awarded to a company with no federal contracting experience who is overcharging the government.

ROFL

You moron Marxists tell the dumbest lies.

Trump gave a no-bid contract to a neighbor in Mira Lardo. This fiasco falls directly on his lap.

Yup. Despite @Rusty Bell 65 and others trying to spread the Trump lie that he did not choose or know the guy, Trump told us clearly he did and only changed his statement once he realized this was becoming a debacle.

This is the guy Trump choose to enrich with taxpayer money, because he is a friend and donor to Trump from Mar A Lago...

Who vouched for him such that he was awarded the No Bid contract??

ROFL

You moron Marxists tell the dumbest lies.
I like that you magats have to lie to yourselves over this and feel the need to shift the blame.

It means you can see how badly this was mis-managed and how stupid Trump was which is triggering you so badly and forcing you into a cope spin cycle where you need to lie to yourself and convince yourself this was 'not Trumps fault and has to be someone else's'.

This despite the FACT that videos were being posted of the paint/sealant peeling up and floating to the surface well before anyone was reaching in to grab a souvenir chunk of it. Something defense lawyers, for those being charged will quickly be able to show, when they subpoena the 24/7 video recorded footage of that pond, to get these cases quickly dismissed.

Nope.

No "videos" just WaPo and other hate sites claiming "expert" (expert Trump haters that is) examined satellite images. This is just another example of the literal insanity of the Marxists and the little Goebbels of the DNC propaganda corps.

The contractor is Trump's friend.
Irrelevant.

Trump will ensure he doesn't lose money on this deal.
I'm waiting to see how you support this assertion. Is this just another one of your omniscience fallacies?

I would think the National Park Service routinely tests the reflecting pool water for algae toxicity and chemical impairment.
The technical phrase for this is "ignorant wishful thinking."

The National Mall is one of the most heavily trafficked pieces of real estate in America and the National Park Service would undoubtedly take steps to ensure the health and safety of humans around the pool and avian water fowl who use it.
This is a long-winded way of saying that you admit that you are not aware of any testing for algae done by anyone.

Try the other way. Is there public confirmation that the work was performed without warrantee?

Repairs appear to be handled within the existing government contract
Nope. All contracts appear to be standard, i.e. "contractor shall ..." with work guaranteed so the government can take action if not satisfied.

— federal records show additional payments to the same firm for work described as within the original scope
This issue just recently occurred. I don't believe anyone has had either time or access to anyone's accounting ledgers to be able to make the kind of statement you are implying.

The Washington Post said so, and other left-leaning propaganda organs repeated the claim. It's based on their "expert" examination of satellite images
Dismissed.

Try the other way. Is there public confirmation that the work was performed without warrantee?

Can't you use Grok?

Grok, is there public confirmation that the recent work on the Lincoln Reflecting Pool was performed without warrantee?

No, there is no public confirmation that the recent work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was performed without a warranty. Public statements from the contractor indicate the opposite.

The pool underwent a high-profile renovation in spring 2026 (completed around early June), involving leak repairs, a new waterproof lining/coating (described as "American flag blue"), and a water purification/filtration system. The main contractor for the lining and resurfacing work was Atlantic Industrial Coatings (AIC), which received a no-bid contract (initially around $13 million, later reported up to ~$14.7 million). Issues quickly arose post-reopening, including algae blooms and peeling of the blue coating.

Key Facts on Warranty

  • AIC issued a public statement confirming that identified repair areas (described as a "very small part" of the ~7-acre project) would be addressed "as part of the warranty" once the pool is drained again. They noted repairs cannot be done while filled.
  • This was reported across multiple outlets, including references to the company's website and statements to news organizations.
  • There are no credible public reports, contract details, or official statements indicating the work was performed without warranty coverage. Speculation or questions about warranties appear in social media comments, but these are not substantiated.
The no-bid nature of the contracts (to AIC and a separate firm for the purification system) has drawn scrutiny, along with the project's rapid timeline, cost increases, and the contractor's prior work on Trump properties (but limited federal experience). However, this is separate from the warranty question.

In short, available public information confirms warranty coverage for the repairs, with the contractor committing to return and fix issues under it. If new details emerge (e.g., disputes over the warranty's terms), they would likely be reported in ongoing coverage.
