Will AI lead to a basic minimum wage?

It is true...and multi-millions will be out of a job.

Great.

That is why we build machines of any kind, including AI...to put people out of a job. That means they do not have to earn a living.

It is a blessing, not a disaster. We just have to change a few things in order to make it work...and I suspect AI will force us to do that.
Gosh, it's tough to complete with AI when it's smarter than you, Isn't it?

I have seen it in law already.
You deny law. You are not a lawyer, Pretender.
Those 60 hours a week jobs are in jeopardy, because a lot of it was research and writing. As a 26 year attorney who has never had an associates, the research part is so much easier, and I generally let AI do my first drafts. I do not know what you call it, but an AI Architect will not have trouble, and I think they will need professionals from specific fields to help with that.
You are not a lawyer, Pretender.
Call centers are already being replaced, and lots of Customer Support centers. I am not worried because I am already in my 50's and would like to retire soon. But think of delivery men, and long haul truckers, data entry, bookkeeping, basic accounting, court reporters, software developers, market research, data analysts. Some of these categories are already being wiped out.
None of them are being wiped out, Pretender.
One interesting component is that for the first time it will be the White Collar workers who are going to suffer the most.
Suffer what, Pretender? You're a Luddite.

If it’s true that AI will put millions out of a job…

Assuming that is true…. What will happen to them? How will they live or eat?

Ideas?
Universal Basic Income........in other words ,....a form of slavery. Fuck that,...not me,..Now...or EVER. They can keep it.

Adversity is the spark of ingenuity. Without it we will revert,...not advance. Short term UBI sounds wonderful,...........but long term its a disaster.

So if a third of the population cant find work, what happens?
It absolutely WILL happen,....and in a way its actually biblical as well. But that doesn't mean it will be a GOOD thing,...because it wont be.

I would imagine it would go something like this.......what you already HAVE,...you can keep. Short term anyway,....then they will have some excuse and they will take away what is rightfully yours down the road some time. In the interest of "fairness" You will be given a place to live, medical, food, communication,...and on top of that so many " credits " will be issued to your account for the little extras and entertainment/relaxation. Other than that,....you get squat. And that's your life,....basically what those who are dependent on govt now get. Awful.

Welcome to the new America,...basically the old Soviet union. Fuck that. I'd rather see every inch of this land that our forefathers provided for us all be burned to the ground leaving nothing but a giant smoking hole than to EVER live like that. This isn't what our parents, grand parents, great grand parents, ect ect...worked their asses off and fought bloody world wars for so we can end up living like mice in a damn cage.

It absolutely WILL happen,....and in a way its actually biblical as well. But that doesn't mean it will be a GOOD thing,...because it wont be.
And your thoughts for the 1/3 or more unemployed at no fault of their own?

Again.......adversity breeds ingenuity. You HAVE TO have it.

Ancient man was like..............damn, its cold out,...this really sucks. Hey,....I know.....that one day I saw this big flash thing that looked like it came out of the sky and hit a big tree. All of a sudden that tree turned a bright red and just like that where that tree was it wasn't cold anymore,...it was actually kinda hot. Now if I could only find a way to reproduce THAT??????? :ROFLMAO: And come to think of it,...when that tree turned red it killed a bird that was sitting in it,...it made the bird turn kinda black and made its blood go away and we were hungry so we ate it,.....and I'll be damned but it was a LOT BETTER than how we have been eating it! LOL

When a discovery is made people think the discoverer says EUREKA!!! But really what they say is...........Hmmmmm,....that's odd. Most discoveries happen on accident trying to solve an unrelated problem.

And your thoughts for the 1/3 or more unemployed at no fault of their own?
I already told you....UBI absolutely will happen. No stopping it. My thoughts on it means nothing,...gonna happen either way. Just not to me. I will have no part of it.

And what does AI use to pay for this stuff , seeing it isn't a person

You'll love this one, Grok. On JustPlainPolitics.com, TBird1943 wants to know how AI can be configured to buy stuff. https://www.justplainpolitics.com/threads/will-ai-lead-to-a-basic-minimum-wage.248629/post-7012057

AI can absolutely be configured (or more precisely, integrated and authorized) to buy stuff autonomously or semi-autonomously.

The core challenge TBird1943 raises is valid: AI itself isn't a legal person with its own money or credit. It acts as an agent on behalf of a human (or business) that provides payment methods, accounts, and permissions. Here's how it works in practice today and where it's heading:

Current Ways AI Buys Stuff

  • Voice Assistants & Smart Home Integration: Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri already let you say "Buy more coffee pods" or "Order dog food." They use your linked Amazon, Google, or other accounts with stored payment info and shipping details. The AI handles the search, cart, and checkout using your credentials.
  • Chat-Based Shopping: Tools like ChatGPT (with OpenAI's shopping integrations), Perplexity, or retailer-specific AIs can research products, compare prices, and complete purchases via linked payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). Some support "one-click" or direct checkout.
  • Agentic AI / Autonomous Agents: These go further. AI agents can:
    • Browse sites, compare options, negotiate deals (where possible).
    • Fill carts and check out using your authorized payment methods.
    • Handle recurring purchases (e.g., groceries based on habits).
    • Examples include integrations from Mastercard/Visa for agent-driven shopping, Walmart's agent experiments, and platforms like Shopify/OpenAI setups.

Payment comes from you (or the entity controlling the AI): linked bank cards, digital wallets, PayPal, business accounts, etc. The AI needs API access or browser automation with your logins/tokens.

Technical Configuration

You can set this up with:

  • APIs and Integrations: E-commerce platforms (Amazon, Shopify, etc.) provide APIs for automated ordering. AI tools use libraries like Selenium/Puppeteer for browser automation or official SDKs.
  • AI Frameworks: Tools like LangChain, AutoGPT, or custom agents with LLMs let you build "shopping bots" that follow goals like "Find the cheapest reliable laptop under $800 with these specs and buy it using my account."
  • Security: OAuth, API keys, or sandboxed permissions limit what the AI can do. You set rules (budget caps, approved vendors, approval thresholds for big purchases).
  • Enterprise/Advanced: Businesses already use AI for procurement—automatically reordering supplies based on inventory sensors or predictions.

Legal/Practical Notes: The AI doesn't "own" anything; it's executing transactions under your authority. This is similar to how scheduled payments or authorized apps work. Fraud protections, dispute processes, and terms of service still apply.

Future Outlook (Agentic Commerce)

We're moving toward more independent agents that:

  • Anticipate needs (e.g., "Your milk is low—reorder?").
  • Use your full preferences/history.
  • Handle complex tasks across sites.

This ties into broader discussions on AI, jobs, and economics. If AI handles more routine work (including shopping), it could free up human time—but payment and ownership stay with people/businesses. UBI debates often come up in these threads as a proposed societal adjustment, though that's separate from the tech itself.

If you want specifics on building one (e.g., a simple script or tool recommendations), or how this plays into the minimum wage/automation conversation, let me know!

Other way around you uneducated, welfare collecting dunce.
I will put my collage DEGREES up against yours any day.
For your info I have a Bachelors degree in Business, An Associates in Electrical engineering. two more in counseling.
So morons like you don't want to go there.
