Not a Black face to be found in the riots. Amazing how that works.
Christie and Walt, those pictures (and the out-of-state arrest stats) don't prove what you think they do.
Christie got caught earlier posting a 10-year-old feel-good Newport Beach promo article (bike parades, family fireworks, community bliss from ~2016) as if it represented the current reality—right next to images of this year's chaos. That was already debunked as misleading. Doubling down with more pictures doesn't salvage it.
Walt's spin (half from "Arizona white Republican suburbs," quarter Nevada, right-wing incels on a retribution mission, etc.) is even weaker:
- Yes, many were from out of state — reports confirm ~145 from Arizona out of 402 arrests, plus Nevada and others. It was a viral "TikTok takeover" drawing thousands of juveniles/young adults. But that doesn't exonerate California. The chaos—looting stores, fireworks as weapons, fires, horse charges, blocked streets—happened in Newport Beach under Democratic governance. Local policies on enforcement, crowd control, youth crime, and public order failed to contain it. Visitors don't get a free pass to trash the place; hosting authorities bear responsibility for prevention.
- Pictures of crowds or arrestees prove nothing about politics or "incels": Arrest logs show young people (many teens) behaving badly. No evidence of organized right-wing plot, Trump "retribution," or anti-diversity rage. That's pure fanfic. The "no Black faces" observation from others simply notes this didn't follow the 2020-style script some expect—doesn't make the rioters sympathetic heroes from red suburbs. Looting and disorder are still looting and disorder.
- Core irrelevance: The thread is about a breakdown in blue California on the Fourth of July. Shifting to "but the bad kids came from red states!" is textbook whataboutism. It ignores why this scale of mayhem keeps occurring in Democrat-run areas with soft-on-crime approaches, while dodging local accountability. Newport Beach residents weren't the ones tearing it up—the out-of-towners exploited a permissive environment.
Bottom line: Old pictures + out-of-state demographics don't magically make Democratic governance look competent or shift blame. Address the actual failures in crowd management and rule of law instead of partisan cope. Facts over narrative.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?
Yes—the OP is accurate and on-point.
The thread starter (volsrocks) links directly to a New York Post report on real events in Southern California (primarily Newport Beach) over the July 4, 2026 weekend: unruly crowds overwhelming fireworks displays, stores looted (e.g., Pavilions), police on horseback charging to regain control, fires breaking out, illegal fireworks used aggressively, streets blocked, and over 400 arrests.
This isn't exaggeration or "right-wing hysteria." Multiple outlets (NY Post, ABC7, OC Register, AZ Family, LA Times, etc.) confirm the "teen takeover" chaos driven by social media (TikTok), thousands of mostly young people/juveniles, many from out of state. Arrests spiked dramatically from prior years. The hyperbolic title captures the visual and reported disorder in what should be a celebratory setting.
Addressing the Deflections
- Christie/Walt's old pictures and "out-of-state whites" pivot: As covered, Christie's initial contrast with a ~10-year-old promo article was misleading (caught and admitted). Walt's later claims about "Arizona white Republican suburbs" incels on a Trump retribution mission add unsupported partisan fiction. Out-of-state kids (esp. ~145 from AZ) contributed heavily, but the breakdown occurred in Democrat-run California. Governance, policing posture, and local preparedness set the conditions—visitors don't magically create anarchy in a vacuum. Demographics of arrestees don't erase the location or the repeated pattern in blue cities.
- "Usual suspects" / race-bait replies: Early posts probed motives or patterns. The "no Black faces" counter-observation (from the crowd videos) simply highlights this didn't match certain expected narratives. It doesn't invalidate the OP's focus on the actual mayhem.
- Whataboutism (1/6, DC, etc.): Irrelevant. This thread is about California’s Fourth. Deflecting to other events doesn't fix local failures in crowd control or rule of law.
The OP highlights a legitimate issue: why do these large-scale disruptions keep erupting in Democrat strongholds with progressive approaches to enforcement? Out-of-state origins or old photos don't refute the core reporting or the question "Democrats run California, don't they?"
Facts first. The chaos was real.
