The DSA’s Communist Turn

For The Libs of JPP who are in complete denial (or just completely dishonest), this one's for you.

The DSA’s Communist Turn
At the Faith & Freedom Coalition gathering in Washington last week, President Donald Trump warned that many Democratic Socialist candidates “are not social democrats. These are hardcore, godless Communists. . . . This is the most serious threat to our country since its existence.” Trump’s remarks sparked a wave of condemnations, including from CNN chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins, who said that “socialism, much less democratic socialism, is not communism.”

Statements like Collins’ highlight how little attention the press has given to the Democratic Socialists of America and its national leadership. The majority of the DSA’s governing board, the National Political Committee (NPC), openly identifies with Communist ideology.

Self-avowed Communists were not always so well represented in DSA’s leadership, but the DSA’s leftward shift has helped turn it into a vehicle for a wide range of organizing beyond electoral politics, attracting Marxist-Leninist tendencies in particular. To dismiss the DSA as simply “not communism,” as Collins does, is wrong. Members with Communist political tendencies now significantly shape the DSA’s leadership, and the organization is an increasingly attractive vehicle for bringing together a wide range of left-wing movements, many of which profess to be Communist.
Do you know what the word communist mean?????

Homelessness and starvation.
I don't see people eating zoo animals in the US, but they did in Venezuela...

Socialist and Communist nations have homelessness and starvation, real starvation, not just fewer calories than they'd like.

Under Maduro, he handed out boxes of the CLAP.

That was supposed to last you a month.

That's supposed to be USSR Communism.

Wrong! Most are using the shallowest of thinking--if that term is even applicable--to choose. They think Socialism and Communism are favorable because, to them, as the losers in a Capitalist society, they get their cut at the expense of others. It is the politics of envy and greed on the part of the Socialists and Communists that are the problem, not the success of the Capitalists.

Capitalism gave us the Model T, likely the most successful automobile in history and a car everyone could buy and own.

Communism gave us the Trabant. A sputtering, underpowered, smoking, polluting, little joke with a body made of old clothes and plastic resin that you waited 10 years on a list to maybe get one if you were lucky.

That's just one example of the massive failure of Socialism and Communism.

Really? Could you give us say three examples of how American Capitalism is an abomination?
I can give you one...and IT shows that American capitalism is on a course for total destruction. But only someone who is not electively blind can see it, which pretty much eliminates you.

But I will offer it anyway.

Right now...the top 1% of families own one-third of the total wealth of our nation. The top 10% of families own two-thirds of the total wealth of our nation. The bottom 50% own less than 3% of the total wealth of our nations. And the percentage of ownership of the total has increased for the upper 1% and upper 10% just about every year since the mid-1950's...through both Republican and Democratic party administrations. Capitalism works that way.

And it does not matter that the total wealth is a flex amount. The percentage of the total is inexorably going to the very wealthy and away from the the poorer.

I suspect neither socialism or communism will appreciably correct that trajectory...although either MAY. MAY!

It is my opinion that an amalgam of capitalism and socialism will probably do best in altering that trajectory.

Only the most stupid among us think that we can continue on the path we are on without disastrous results...and that such a condition is not an abomination.

Is there a different kind of communism? Do tell.
What an uneducated moron. I traveled to the USSR and eastern European countries on business , also the Scandinavian countries all in the 1980's , all different even within the eastern European countries , the Scandinavian countries were democratic socialist not the same as the USSR.

Get an education slug brain

Nothing happened? Do you know how many Gen z kids think socialism and communism is favorable? You call this nothing?

In the most recent Cato Institute–YouGov survey (March 2025), 62% of Americans aged 18–29 (Gen Z) said they have a favorable view of socialism. For the same age group, 34% said they have a favorable view of communism.
well neocons are supergay for fascism and banker bailouts.

it all comes out in the wash.

Irrelevant. Here's a thought experiment as to why:

Let's say you can live comfortably on $200 a day. That's $6000 a month. Then, let's say, 70% of everyone in the country makes that amount or more. For the top 1% they make 10,000 times that. That is, they make $2 million a day. For the 30% below $6000 half make at least $3000.

Now, from that example, riddle me this: How and why the fuck should anyone care about what the top 1% make when 85% of all citizens make sufficient to meet their basic needs? Sure, the other 15% might struggle, and there's something like maybe 5% that really are in some sort of desperate straight, but it should be apparent to any reasonable person that what the top 1% make is FUCKING IRRELEVANT!

You keep pushing the narrative of envy and greed that it's unfair you aren't getting a bigger slice of the pie.

As I said, those who choose to be blind cannot see.

For you, if the top 1% owned 99% of the total wealth of the country, it would be fine. And, for you, they would have earned it. And if the bottom 99% of the people owned only 1% of the total wealth of the country...it would be because they are lazy or stupid.

YOU, and the others like you, are the reason the younger generation are finding socialism and communism to be attractive.

YOU, and the others like you, ARE THE REASON FOR THAT PROBLEM...NOT GOVERNMENT.

But stay content in your ignorance and blindness. 1% of Russians did in the early 20th century...and 1% of French did in the late 18th century.

What bad could come of that?

During the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, democratic socialists stayed and fought the totalitarian communists, while Russian conservatives were fleeing the country in a panic.

What bad could come of that?
The French Revolution followed by two decades of war by Napoleon?

The Terror of Paris maybe?

The Russian Revolution followed by wars of expansion in Romania, Finland, China, and then Lenin and Stalin between them killing off something like 20 to 40 million people because those people disagreed with their rule?

The creation of N. Korea out of Soviet Communism? The creation of Communist China out of that same revolution?
