I lived in the DC suburbs, and never saw dead ducks or an algae-infested swamp back in the 1970s, though I obviously wasn't on the Mall every day.

I'm not talking about the water. I'm talking about the incompetent application of the liner, which is probably partly related to Trump ordering his pool guy to rush through the job.

The contractor is doing it at their own cost. That would not be happening if vandalism was the cause. It was their own fuckups.We do not knw if Trumps no bid contractor has the ability to fix it. So That.

You are incentivized to do a bad job if you get to come back and do it a second time and then a third and then a forth and to just keep charging over and over again to repair your mistakes.

Doug Bergum, the Interior Secretary is the top govt dog who makes the call on all payments for work, including the reflecting pool.

I watched him on an interview and cited it above and he is thrilled with the work the contractor did and has stated how good a job they did and it was vandals who caused the issues and that the contractor will be paid to fix that.

No getting around that now as the contractor would not even be able to tap his insurance to fix it if he wanted to and has no reason to as they could sue and get full payment using Doug's words as proof.

If it was vandalism the contractor isn't at fault. If it was the contractor's fault he would have to correct the problem at his own expense. Let's wait and see how this is resolved. In the big scheme of things this is a nothing burger.

When the top person involved, Doug Bergum has made his pronouncement that the contractor is not at fault and did a great job and WILL charge again, that is the end of the story.

As a home owner you cannot proclaim the person who did your reno did a great job, proclaim others are responsible for any damage and say you will be paying the contractor again to fix it, but then others say 'we need to wait and see who will end up paying'

If Doug's department refused to pay the contractor would sue and use his owns words against him court. He has no defense against them.

It's an 18 inch deep pool of stagnant water sitting on recovered swamp land. Of course it has algae.
