Cost of living is up. Paychecks are not. And workers are not OK.

Trump-flation

A new survey finds many American workers feel their pay is not keeping up with the rising cost of living.

More than half of workers have less than three months of living expenses saved in case of a layoff.

Financial stress is a major issue, with a majority of employees living paycheck to paycheck.

Heading into the 2026 midterm elections, cost-of-living concerns are a central issue at kitchen tables across America. With Americans paying higher prices for everything from groceries to car insurance, savings are dwindling, credit card debt is mounting and household budgets are stretched thin.

Paychecks gone in a 'blink.' Rising costs on the minds of Americans

It's a lot of pressure these days to have a family depending on you and not feel very secure in your income.

Will you be able to find a job after the current one is eliminated?

Will you have to give up on your home and the only one your children have known, and move somewhere else on the hope that will be better?

What if it isn't?

What if your children don't adjust well to the change?

Will your marriage survive the stress?

These are circumstance which do not lead to supporting current leadership.

Republicans screw up the economy and add greatly to the debt - seems like every single time.

And yet they amazingly manage to keep alive a belief that they are somehow better for the economy.

That's the power of right wing propaganda and a populace that often gives rumors more credibility than the media.

"Well, Joe down the street believes it - so it must be true."

Democrats get in and have to clean up the Republican mess - all while being blamed for it. They make some progress and begin to get things back in order again. Republicans and the right wing media convince enough voters things are horrible and there should have been a faster recovery. A recovery from the mess they made. Voters fall for it, put Republicans back in, who proceed to ride on the economic coat tails of what Democrats built - all while blaming them for things not being better. Then Republicans screw up the economy again and add greatly to the debt again.

And now the great peace maker has started a war where the goal seems to be just getting back to where we were before the war.

If the economic impact of losing millions of immigrants workers and job creators, along with crippling price-raising tariffs didn't hurt the economy bad enough, the needless war that hiked gas prices a dollar higher per gallon has been a disaster.

And all of this was supposed to reduce the Federal Debt but instead it is way higher. But billionaires have been given a big tax break because, you know, they are so beneficial for America. Why should they not be paying more tax and helping reduce the debt they caused? They are the ones who have all the power and control over government.

The only reason the public has not completely abandoned Republicans is because of the biased right wing media.

Inflation in America is rising faster than paychecks — again. Expert warns rest of 2026 is all about ‘belt tightening.’ Where to squeeze your budget

rices are rising, but paychecks aren't. And many Americans are feeling the pain as their purchasing power dwindles, from the gas pump to the grocery store.

For the first time in three years, inflation has outpaced wage growth. In April, prices rose 0.6%, bumping headline inflation to 3.8%, according to the latest Consumer Price Index data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (1).

Trump-flation
Trump didn't cause inflation. FDR did (50% during his administration, and replacing gold and silver with paper). High inflationary periods also occurred during the Clinton years, the Obama/Biden years (94%!), and the Biden/Obama years (34%)
A new survey finds many American workers feel their pay is not keeping up with the rising cost of living.
It isn't. Wages always lag during inflation. They haven't caught up yet from the damage caused by Biden/Obama, which DESTROYED many businesses.
More than half of workers have less than three months of living expenses saved in case of a layoff.
This has been true since the 20's.
Financial stress is a major issue, with a majority of employees living paycheck to paycheck.

Oddly enough, they aren't.

The main issues are the violence and crime, caused by Democrats.
With Americans paying higher prices for everything from groceries to car insurance, savings are dwindling, credit card debt is mounting and household budgets are stretched thin.
Grocery prices are down right now. Car insurance is about the same. Most don't have savings, and many spend too much and live beyond their means.

The Republicans have always looked out for their wealthy political donors who don't feel that they should pay their fair share of taxes.

Make yourself worth something to somebody. They will pay you for it.
Will you be able to find a job after the current one is eliminated?
Make yourself worth something to somebody. They will pay you for it. You can even start a new business!
Will you have to give up on your home and the only one your children have known, and move somewhere else on the hope that will be better?
Will you continue to be lazy? Will you continue your drugs? These are factors that lead to the loss of your home.
What if it isn't?

What if your children don't adjust well to the change?

Will your marriage survive the stress?
These are the factors that destroy marriages as well.
These are circumstance which do not lead to supporting current leadership.
So stop being lazy. Get off your butt and make yourself useful to somebody.

inversion fallacy. You cannot blame Democrat problems on anybody else.

Democrats again.

Nope. Democrats again.

Typical Democrat response.

I don't consider Carter a peacemaker. He started the path which Iran took to continual war.
If the economic impact of losing millions of immigrants workers and job creators,
Illegal immigration is ILLEGAL. They are immediately subject to deportation. LEGAL immigrants can stay.
along with crippling price-raising tariffs
Tariffs do not raise prices unless you import something. Buy domestic.

Tariffs do not hurt or damage the economy.
the needless war that hiked gas prices a dollar higher per gallon has been a disaster.
Carter again.

Trump does not control the debt, Poli.
But billionaires have been given a big tax break because, you know, they are so beneficial for America.
Every taxpayer got a big tax break.
Did you know it's unconstitutional to 'tax the rich'? See the 16th and 14th amendments.
Why should they not be paying more tax and helping reduce the debt they caused?
See the 14th and 16th amendments. They did not cause government debt.
They are the ones who have all the power and control over government.
Jealousy.
The only reason the public has not completely abandoned Republicans is because of the biased right wing media.
What 'right wing media'??

Political parties are made up of people, Poli. They ARE the public.

We need a $50/hr minimum wage. That will fix it.
