The Paris agreement of 1973 was an American capitulation. There is no way to sugar coat it.

Nixon left the negotiating table not having achieved any of American's original objectives for the war - and he walked away knowing North Vietnamese troops occupied large parts of the South and he had no leverage to convince them to withdraw.
