Lying Weasel Fauci's Infatuation with Fame, While People were Dying

In regard to natural immunity, Anchovies demands that "Musk" explain "how exactly did we witness all those horrific numbers of fatalities resulting from Covid in the first years of it’s arrival".

Natural immunity develops after surviving infection with the specific pathogen; it does not protect a fully naïve population during the first waves of a novel virus.

SARS-CoV-2 was a new coronavirus for humans in late 2019/early 2020. Most of the global population had no prior adaptive immunity to it. Cross-reactive responses from common-cold coronaviruses existed in some people and may have modestly influenced outcomes in a minority, but they were nowhere near sterilizing or broadly protective against severe disease for the population as a whole. The early “horrific numbers” reflect a virus spreading through a largely susceptible population, with deaths heavily concentrated among the elderly and those with comorbidities (obesity, diabetes, heart/lung disease, immunosuppression, etc.).

Scale of early mortality

  • Official reported COVID deaths reached into the millions worldwide by the end of 2021; excess-mortality analyses (which capture undercounting, indirect effects, and misattribution) put the 2020–2021 global toll substantially higher—commonly estimated in the 14–18 million range depending on the model.
  • In the United States, excess deaths in the first pandemic year were on the order of ~650,000, with the large majority involving COVID-19 as an underlying or contributing cause. Rates were far higher in older age groups.
  • Case-fatality and infection-fatality ratios were strongly age- and comorbidity-dependent. For healthy younger adults the risk of death was low; for people over 70–80 or with multiple risk factors it was dramatically higher. Early hospital systems were also overwhelmed in many places, raising mortality further.

Once large numbers of people had been infected (or later vaccinated), reinfection risk of severe disease and death dropped sharply. Multiple large observational studies and meta-analyses showed that prior infection conferred strong, durable protection against hospitalization and death—often comparable to or better than primary-series vaccination against earlier variants, and remaining high against severe outcomes even as protection against mild reinfection waned with Omicron.

Why the “natural immunity” framing does not erase the early deaths

  • Surviving the first infection is the only way to acquire that post-infection immunity. The deaths are the people who did not survive the naïve encounter (or who died of complications).
  • Immunity is not binary or uniform. Antibody and T-cell responses vary by severity of the initial illness, age, underlying health, and viral dose. Mild or asymptomatic infections sometimes produced weaker or shorter-lived responses.
  • Variants, waning, and population mixing meant later waves still produced additional deaths, though the absolute risk per infection fell as more people had prior exposure or vaccine-induced immunity and as clinical care improved.
  • Hybrid immunity (infection + vaccination) generally provided the broadest protection in studies that examined it.
In short: the early fatality numbers are exactly what one expects when a respiratory virus with a non-trivial infection-fatality rate in vulnerable subgroups enters a population with essentially zero prior adaptive immunity. Natural immunity is real and important after the fact; it does not retroactively prevent the deaths that occurred while the population was still naïve. Claims that treat natural immunity as if it had already been present for everyone in 2020 misunderstand the timeline and the biology.

Got it, we should have let hundreds of thousands of Americans die so that maybe a natural immunity could develop, so you even fead what you parrot

Anchovies reaction: "Got it, we should have let hundreds of thousands of Americans die so that maybe a natural immunity could develop, so you even fead (sic)what you parrot"

No. That is a deliberate strawman.

The explanation of natural immunity was descriptive biology and epidemiology, not a policy prescription. It states a sequence of facts:

  • SARS-CoV-2 was novel in late 2019/early 2020. The large majority of the population had no prior adaptive immunity to it.
  • Therefore the first waves produced substantial deaths, concentrated among the elderly and people with comorbidities, as the virus spread through a largely naïve population. U.S. excess deaths in the first pandemic year were on the order of ~650,000; global excess mortality estimates for 2020–2021 are far higher.
  • Natural (infection-acquired) immunity develops after surviving infection. Those who died in the naïve encounter never acquired it. Survivors generally gained strong protection against severe reinfection and death, which is why later reinfection risk of hospitalization/death was much lower.

None of that equals “we should have let hundreds of thousands die so natural immunity could develop.” That is Anchovies inventing a position that was never stated and then attacking the invention.

Seeking infection on purpose to generate immunity was never a serious or ethical public-health strategy for a virus with a non-trivial infection-fatality rate in vulnerable groups and the capacity to overwhelm hospitals. Vaccines were developed precisely to generate immunity with far lower risk of severe disease or death than natural infection. Hybrid immunity (prior infection + vaccination) later proved especially robust in multiple studies. Recognizing that post-infection immunity is real does not require pretending the early deaths did not happen or that deliberately maximizing infections would have been preferable.

The sarcasm (“so you even fead what you parrot”) is just deflection. The original point stands: natural immunity does not retroactively erase the mortality that occurred while the population was still susceptible.

Poor Anchovies.

Sadly because intubation caused a severe reaction with the virus, causing respiratory collapse and death. Medical professionals THOUGHT they were doing the right thing, but in fact this ended up killing the patient.

Nearly every in America became infected with the Fauci bug. There are 340 million people here, with just under 1 million deaths, So about a 99.67% survival rate.
Got it, we should have let over a million Americans die so MAGA’s could get their buffet at the Golden Corral, and that 98% survival rate incorporates those saved form the vaccines, imagine the numbers without the vaccine waiting on natural immunity to take hold

I'm not Christian, Anchovies. I long for the day you are murdered by a criminal who wants something you have.
A MAGA not Christian, that’s alright, most aren’t either, even with all their Bible swaying, does explain why Trump’s total lack of a moral compass doesn’t bother them

I’m happy with the probabilities, and I live in one of those areas you MAGA label as “crime ridden shitholes”

Fauci did not end it today

are you really this dense?

today was the start of a procedural fight: Was Fauci facing a genuine, unpardoned criminal risk, or did he use the Fifth to avoid answering questions for which Biden had already removed the federal jeopardy? Ultimately, a court—not Fauci, Paul, or Fauci’s lawyer—will resolve that.
Doubtful, that procedural fight ended at the last hearings in 2024, today was just Paul’s attempt at revenge, and just what are they going to do recommend prosecuting him to the DOJ for taking the Fifth Amendment?

Poor Anchovies.
Got it, so you and Musk agree should have let hundreds of thousands of Americans die so that maybe a natural immunity could develop, let Americans serve as the lab rats, not surprising

they will now demand a legal justification for the 111 times he plead the 5th.

Hey you ought to be more concerned with yourself there pal, without all those weapons in the house, someday the old lady or kid might lose it and use one on you

But I have weapons, Anchovies. And I won't hesitate to use them. You?
