Simple thread - who has the guts to publicly commit.

My prediction is the Republicans will pick up two additional Senate seats, but lose the house by a slim margin.

I think that Republicans will keep the Senate and the House is a toss up atm (If R's would've redistricted better, I would've said that R's keep it, but without redistricting being as good as I would've liked to see it, and if gas prices don't come down all that much in the next couple months, then I'm thinking the D's win the House by a slim margin) ... it's hard to buck history.

It’s too early to say. Talk to me in mid-October.

If you forced me at gunpoint to say today I think the Dems pick up the House and the Pubs hold the Senate by 2 votes, 51-49.

Hope you’re wealthy, because if you’re middle-middle on down that’s going to be bad for your wallet.

ROFL

DSA idiocy.

Trump has done more for the middle class than any democrat in the last 50 years.

  • Massively reducing the taxes on Seniors on Social Security with an average of $16,000 per year back in the pockets of retirees.
  • $2,200 per qualifying child
  • Doubled the Standard deduction (applying only to households with less than $200K in income)
  • Made the Standard deduction increase permanent.
  • Tax credit for overtime pay - effectively taxing overtime at straight time rate.
  • Tips now tax exempt
  • Ending the carried interest loophole for hedge funds (Oligarch tax dodge)

Trump's tax cuts provided significant relief to middle-class families, with an average tax cut of about $1,780 for middle-income taxpayers. Additionally, 96% of filers receiving a tax cut earned less than $200,000, benefiting many working families.

Overview of Trump's Tax Cuts for the Middle Class

Trump's tax cuts aimed to provide substantial relief to middle-class families, particularly through the Working Families Tax Cuts. These cuts were designed to benefit a large number of taxpayers earning under $200,000.

Key Benefits

  • Average Tax Cut: Middle-income taxpayers received an average tax cut of approximately $1,780.
  • Filers Under $200,000: About 96% of those who benefited from the tax cuts earned less than $200,000, indicating a strong focus on middle and lower-income families.}

I did not formally vote - too many unknowns currenty.

Which GOP senators do you think are vulnerable? Colins was, but the democrats decided to run a literal Nazi against her, so that fell through.

The GOP will very likely defeat Ossoff in Georgia and are almost certain to defeat Crowley in Wisconsin. About half of Wisconsin democrats have vowed to vote against him, with many planning to do a write in for Hong.

I see two pickups for the Americans with zero for the democrats,

Roy Cooper is the favorite right now. I would be worried about Josh Turek in Iowa too. Iowa is my home state, people are not happy with the direction right now

David Crowley is the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, not a Senate candidate. Am I misreading here?

You can thank Crazy Trump, for the GOP demise.

I hate to put much faith in polls, but Cooper has a 13 point margin even in the left leaning sources.

My bad. It is Hoved vs. Baldwin for senate - with Hoved expected to oust Baldwin.

You’re mixing 2024 and 2026?

Hovde vs. Baldwin was the 2024 Wisconsin U.S. Senate race. Tammy Baldwin won it . Eric Hovde conceded afterward.

So for 2026:

  • David Crowley (D) vs. Tom Tiffany (R) = Wisconsin governor
  • There is no Wisconsin U.S. Senate race in 2026.
  • Baldwin’s seat comes up again in 2030.

Dies in 2028 while the tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy go on.

  • $2,200 per qualifying child

Have to check but that may go away in 2028 as well.

  • Doubled the Standard deduction (applying only to households with less than $200K in income)

Def gone 2028. Again, corporate tax break and wealthy remain.

  • Made the Standard deduction increase permanent.

  • Tax credit for overtime pay - effectively taxing overtime at straight time rate.

Overtime was never taxed at a different rate. Your income is your income at the end of the fiscal year. You pay the rate at your net income after deductions.

  • Tips now tax exempt

Expires 2028

  • Ending the carried interest loophole for hedge funds (Oligarch tax dodge)

I have to check on that one if it also ends.

Nope. First off, there were no tax cuts for the wealthy. As noted, 96% went to households earning less thant $200K

Have to check but that may go away in 2028 as well.

Def gone 2028. Again, corporate tax break and wealthy remain.

Bunk

Let's say you make $10 an hour straight time. When working overtime, you make $15 an hour. Because of Trump and the Americans in Congress, you now pay tax only on the $10 and the overtime is tax free.

Major boon to working people, which your party, the democrats, wage war against.

Expires 2028

I have to check on that one if it also ends.

Sounds like we need to make sure Vance follows Trump so democrats can't get back to fucking the working class under, like they did in the Obama and Biden years.
