Japan is an outpost of the American Empire......a vassal state.....after years of refusing orders to open its borders it did with now large numbers of not Japanese there.
The people are pissed but the people cant do anything about it...just like in America the people have been removed from power.
There have been several recent huge demonstrations against the invasion of their country....they wont matter.

When I lived in the country in Missouri with my late husband, farm stands were scattered around that ran on trust stall honesty. They were there year after year so I guess they never felt they were ripped off. In one visit to Maine with family, we shared a house AirBnB next to a farm on the coast. They had one too!
One of the great joys of living in a rural area.

I already responded to this but after I did I ran across an article that I think might give us a hint at what caused it. Its from Frontpage Magazine and its admittedly a right wing website but it either makes a valid point or it doesnt.
Here is one piece from the article that I think specifically speaks to the shift away from personal responsibility:
"A virtuous society rewards individual merit and punishes individual misbehavior while the modern inversion of social justice treats individual merit as a vice and individual vice as a virtue. Not only poverty, but crime and terrorism, are seen as conditions of oppression rather than individual choices."

The last line is most important. Bad behavior is explained away by outside forces that compel people to engage in the behavior. Bad behavior is bad behavior not matter what people think caused it. If we cant hold the perpetrators of bad behavior to account for their actions then we're in deep trouble. The guy that killed the health insurance executive is a good example of this. There actually are people defending his actions.
