Understand that you are not in a dialogue with these people.

There is no debate.

They aren't listening.

They've sequestered themselves in an ideological bubble, and self-soothe by repeating the same platitudes and blaming the same scapegoats.

They won't examine the horrific consequences of the policies they've backed for decades.

They are indifferent to the suffering caused by the policies they vote for.

They are cut off from reality, and get angry at you for reminding them of it.

There is no use trying to persuade them.

You are an obstacle to them, to be attacked with name calling, and when they gain power again, far worse.

Securing our future will require being very cruel indeed to these people, and not caring what names they call you, or what happens to them as a result of their own beliefs.

They day is coming when you are going to have to get your hands dirty. Harden your hearts.

I ask him if he's got a Munsell Book of Color and can describe the chroma and hue he's talking about. That leaves him stuttering in psychobabble, so I ask if there is anyone else in the department that is actually an expert on color that can help me.
 
A big part of leftism is deliberately misunderstanding perfectly innocuous statements, reading an offensive message into them so that you can pretend to be morally outraged, and thereby boost your social status.

Funny, I see rightwingers being just as angry as lefties.

I see conservative groups that I cannot agree with. The same with some liberal groups.
