Nice try Cypress, but nah. I specifically told you you didn't have to care. But you not caring is irrelevant to why this story has gotten the attention it has.

There has been a big push in academia to diversify (and specifically more black people). This isn't new. And this push has been in the form of DE&I programs. One can argue the pros and cons of these programs and the purpose behind it, but it's within that culture that this Arday story was able to happen.

So you can try to dismiss it as only "#MAGA Morons" caring, but I suppose that makes publications like the NY Times, New Yorker and The Atlantic all #MAGA now for covering it and discussing it.

And going back to your argument about world class universities and their importance, these Universities are right in the middle of this debate.

Like I said, I get it. As a liberal this is an uncomfortable story, thus the desire to downplay it. But don't try to rewrite the thread.

I'm 98 percent certain they won't be able to, and they probably never even heard of the guy.

I'm also certain that you know I'm right.

For multiple reasons, just wow.

By this logic the only relevant stories in politics, economics or academia are the ones most people have heard of.

I bet half this board has no idea who Kevin Warsh is or what he does. And I guarantee you if you interview people on the street a large majority won't know who he is, even though he arguably plays a bigger role in our economy than anyone.

Yet by your logic he's irrelevant because people don't know who he is.

As stated I get why you're responding this way. As a liberal you don't want to touch this story with a ten foot pole. (What I don't get is why you didn't just ignore it, instead of trying this downplaying approach.)
