What if someone started a thread on Hogans Heroes about the dangers of Naziism and then proceeded to load up all the posts with pro-nazi propaganda.

That's what this thread is.

it is an indictment against rampant AI and social dystopianism WHILE LOADING UP ALL HIS POSTS WITH PRO-MATRIX PROPAGANDA by his use of AI all the time.

It's not surprising Cypress isn't sharp enough to understand this. But it is sad.

The Day the Earth Stood Still?? You're missing a classic. You're not a true SF movie fan if you don't know "Gort. Klaatu barada nikto." :)

The remake was lame. Worth watching once, but that's it. The original is worth watching a few times. I can't find it on streaming. Looking at new and used on Amazon, it's better, if not cheaper, to buy the DVD than to rent.

I just bought a used Special Edition (two disc) for $7.17 on Amazon.

I have always just been biased against watching 1950s sci fi films, because most of them were so cheesy, and the technology and special effects are so archaic.

But I will attempt to watch the original!

Most of them are cheesy. Fun, but cheesy due to scripts and also special effects. While there are many great modern SF movies, too many of them rely on SF/X over story.

"The Day the Earth stood still" is a great story also in the vein of "Savior" story line. It's a hopeful story whereas most SF movies of the time were simply "Red Scare" movies with aliens replacing the commies. Likewise, many SF movies of the time fearmonger Space Aliens doing to us what we did to the Indians: highly advanced race displacing, if not enslaving, indigenous people.

Modern methods of production, direction, and acting have kind of spoiled me, but I remember liking Twighlight Zone, and all film buffs have at least heard Day the Earth Stood is reputed to be classic
