Remembering Long Gas Fueling Lines during Carter's Late 70s time as POTUS

During 1979 oil price had doubled, long gas lines returned in the United States to the great ire of we motorists (including myself), anger swept the country, and inflation surged.

Sometimes my wait time in those gas lines of 1979 were up to a half hour in time.

It's such a joke to hear and see LEFTISTS complain about $4 dollar gas prices during the Trump presidency, when in fact gas prices were well over $5 a gallon under Biden, and we had long gas shortage lines during Carter's admin.

Looks like LibH8er misses the fuel shortage days. We have plenty now but it costs a buck per gallon more than it did at this time last year. I bet if he had a job and had to commute daily, he wouldn't be licking Trump's wrinkled tush like he does.

MAGATs are poorly educated, low-info dupes. They've forgotten that the 1970s fuel crisis was not of Carter's making. This is in direct contrast to today's drastic rise in prices, which can be entirely laid on Trump's cheeseburger-and-catsup-stained desk.

Back then I had a 1972 Chevy Vega stick shift that got a whopping 30 mpg, rare in those days. Never had to wait in line for gas. But I did have to get a locking gas cap because my fellow apartment dwellers were stealing it.

That's a good point. Trump is almost singlehandedly responsible for gas inflation.
 
I remember oil tankers lined up and anchored outside of NY harbor, then miracle of miracles gas hit $1:00 and the ships came in and within a week no lines for gas.
 
Yeah, that Arab oil embargo had nothing to do with gas shortages and the price going to 50 cents a gallon. I remember it well. I was 18 working construction in Sarasota County Fla. All the old farts driving huge cars would get in line at 6am to fill their barges. We had the longest lines down there. Our construction company had a station that took care of us. My dad had a small marina with a gas pump. It got me where I needed to go. Fun times. My construction buddies bought huge cars cause the old farts were selling them cheap to get better gas mileage vehicles. We drove to work in his NEW Chrysler Imperial. Other guys bought an almost new Ford Continental......

quite possibly the worst car ever sold. My buddy had that car. Engine blew up in about a year..........VW bugs were the way to go. My other friend had the Ford Pinto. I drove an old 67 Chevy........

The fuel crisis was a direct result of the fall of Iran and the bungling of the Carter administration dealing with it. In addition this resulted in the Carter Doctrine. Exactly what Trump is enforcing right now. Just some correct history for you.

Odd-even rationing happened in 1973-1974, when Nixon was President, not Carter. There were later, smaller disruptions in 1979, when Carter was President, but nothing like the Nixon Era oil shock.

Worth noting that 1973 was an actual oil shortage, whereas 1979 was panic buying due to the oil shortage of 1973.
