This is like if USC lost the national championship game and 18 months later I said “if we played them again today we would win” while the national championship trophy sits on their campus.

Hell, in such a scenario we should go ahead and give our players national championship rings anyway.

In 2004 you guys were undefeated, but did not make the BCS championship game. That was the year USC wiped out Oklahoma. Auburn gave the players rings anyway for being undefeated and called them their national championship rings.
