Those saying follow the money here aren't making that argument.
Those saying that do not appear to be very adept at composing rational arguments, do they?
Those saying follow the money here aren't making that argument.
If you believe 'money' and 'following it' is the sole motivation, yes.I suppose this comes down to how one wants to define follow the money. Is a business strategy that says I'm going to lose 30% of my current audience with the hope that in the future my audience is going to be much larger than that, simply following the money?
I'll respond to this specifically. You're not being mean but you made me laugh out loud. Politics, especially on boards like this, are so partisan and tribal it can be hard to accept that not everyone fits in a neat little box.I think, and i am being serious and not trying to be mean, that is because you WANT to believe Tucker made a mistake abandoning and turning on Trump and so accepting this is 'smart', or even a 'good gamble' is something you really cannot get to.
Well you will have to figure out then why you seem to so completely reject the 'potential strategical value' of those splitting out fully or partially (Tucker, MTG, Bannon, etc) and going America First now, while speaking of the NewoCon turn as a bad one.I'll respond to this specifically. I have always been open about where I stand. I'm a lifelong Republican who has never voted for Trump. I am a Reagan/Bush/libertarian leaning Republican, not #MAGA/America First. I do not like Trump and I really really do not like Tucker Carlson. But I'm not a liberal. And because I didn't vote for Trump doesn't mean my beliefs changed. If Trump nominates conservative justices or wants to lower taxes, I'm all for it.
I get that pisses people off in that they want you to be all in in support or 100% against him. I get called a RINO and I get called a Magat.
Part of the joy of politics is the tribal connection. I've lost a lot of that in the real world. I still connect with fellow Republicans on many issues, and it's always fun ripping on Democrats. But when it comes to Trump and things like trade and immigration policy I'm isolated from many Republicans. It's not that much fun to be honest, but it is what it is.
So considering how much I dislike Tucker, and it's been a somewhat stressful morning so far at work, I'm actually sort of appreciative of the laugh your comment gave me. Much needed levity.
You just nailed it.And if it benefits him, Tucker will tomorrow say Trump is the greatest President ever, he’s a pimp, whatever makes him a buck is what determines his direction
Tucker is being paid to get JD Vance elected potus in 2028.And if it benefits him, Tucker will tomorrow say Trump is the greatest President ever, he’s a pimp, whatever makes him a buck is what determines his direction

It seems your mind will not even engage that as an option, when it seems to a pretty clear one.
If this is solely a money play and them betting solely on it getting them more money that does not require you to see it as a big criticism of the Trump choices and betting they fail and do not endure. You get an easier thing to accept and that is 'they are just money hungry and likely wrong'.
From a business perspective, how does breaking from #MAGA make him more money?Tucker is just following the money. He needs fans to pay for all those testicle tanning session.
He's right this time, but for all the wrong reasons.
Tucker’s audience on his podcast has increased since he split with Trump. Larger audiences translates into more dollars for Tucker’s bank account.Well you will have to figure out then why you seem to so completely reject the 'potential strategical value' of those splitting out fully or partially (Tucker, MTG, Bannon, etc) and going America First now, while speaking of the NewoCon turn as a bad one.

If Tucker's followers turns sour on Maga and Tucker keeps promoting Maga, his followers are going to defect and find another mouth piece.Tucker is just following the money. He needs fans to pay for all those testicle tanning session.

No.From a business perspective, how does breaking from #MAGA make him more money?
- that was my initial post in the thread; it's not an ideological question, it's a simple business one; but you keep trying to assign motives to me for whatever reason; what's even more somewhat amusing is your explanation is very different than other liberals here; i hope Tucker loses all his money whatever route he chooses
Wouldn’t expect you to defend the guy, but as I noted, he’s a pimp, all his moves are calculated to use or be whatever he thinks will make him the most money. He could flip on a dime, just like Cohen, who is now back in the Trump camp, personal principles are meaninglessThe guy got kicked off Fox Freaking News. Have you seen some of the guests he's had on his show since then? The guy already separates himself.
I don't like the guy at all. I can't stand him. So I'm not here defending him but these 'he's following the money' is just a facile answer to me. And the claim that Trump's approval ratings are dropping means all those former voters are now going to become Tucker Carlson followers doesn't hold a lot of water.

I'm not sure what to tell you dude, you keep asserting motives I haven't expressed and arguing against them.No.
I thought your question was valid if you base EVERYTHING off that one assumption only. It DOES NOT make much sense based on that one assumption.
You asked a question based on that one suggestion and i gave you a more compelling other suggestion that DOES MAKE SENSE, if accept simply current cash is not the defining goal.
so that begs the question, why do you stick to the question ONLY that you and i both agree does not make much sense when another motivation, that does, exists?
Now you could argue that you do not believe that Tucker and Bannon (and Vance) are on a path to a post Trump push of America First re-emergence, if that is what you believe but you have not said that.
Instead you seem intent on ONLY arguing the premise we AGREE does not make sense and is a way to dismiss Tucker as dumb or short sighted for turning on Trump with no real benefit to gain.
Wouldn’t happen in MichiganYeah, we haven't made the playoffs yet under Lincoln, we're playing San Jose St and it was like 100 degrees and humid. A lot of people were like F that, I"m not going. And even a fair number of did tried to watch the game from tunnel to stay out of the direct sunlight so their seats were empty.
But yeah, not a good look.
Wouldn’t happen in Michigan But is ironic, 50,000 is a decent crowd playing a lesser opponent, especially in a locale with so many entertainment options, but is never going to look good to outsiders in a stadium that holds 100,000. Must be a lot of Trojan haters out there, Bruin fans
I am actually going to get up and take a shower now because I feel that dirty having wasted this much time of my life in a discussion about Tucker Carlson.Wouldn’t expect you to defend the guy, but as I noted, he’s a pimp, all his moves are calculated to use or be whatever he thinks will make him the most money. He does have a following overseas (https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/t...-carlson-network-sees-historic-154100911.html),
