I notice you can't explain. Since the incumbent POTUS is not running to reelection, what "political fortunes" are you referring to?

The funniest part of the “what political fortunes?” response is that Trump himself apparently thinks his political fortunes matter quite a bit.
He’s now demanding FCC “rebuke or punishment” for an NBC journalist because she dared suggest his endorsements have had “mixed results.”
Nothing says “my political influence is doing fantastic” quite like demanding government punishment for a television network because somebody laughed at your ability to influence elections.

Farmers and ranchers have always been a number-one priority for me, which is why I waited until right before a critical midterm election that increasingly looks like it may not go my way to suddenly make this a priority.
I could have spent the last several years helping Thomas Massie with his actual proposal—you know, legislation with words on paper that Congress could debate, amend, and vote on.
But why do something that concrete?
Instead, I can tweet that I’m ‘authorizing legal documents to be drawn,’ provide almost no specifics, promise it will happen quickly, and let everyone imagine whatever policy they like.
Because I care. And the timing is completely coincidental.
