Trump is weakening the US military's global readiness to confront threats

I suspect that the destruction of the USA is the goal of the ideology you appear to support, based on your posting history.
Two year deployments without any breaks will break equipment and people. Extending enlistments for a year and a half while people are being broken will cause people to just not enlist. This is not about ideology, it is about reality.

I'm pretty sure that the US Navy and its personnel have dealt with even worse circumstances before.

So you say.

They literally have not. When something is 2.5 times worse than the record, it is something that has not been dealt with before. Before the USA entered the war, combatants tried to keep soldiers in WWI constantly engaged, but they ran into burnout. People cannot work around the clock for two years without any breaks. It destroys people.

Even during the extended deployments of Vietnam, the aircraft carriers were stationed over the horizon. Sailor were regularly going on leave, getting fresh supplies, etc. They were basically stationed in the Philippines, and even then the deployments were no where near two years.

@Walt denies that the US Navy and its personnel have dealt with even worse circumstances before.

And the SAILORS on them chip the lose pant off and repaint them AT SEA
Chip off the lose pant?? :rofl2:

Yes, sailors could certainly scrape rust and repaint, but a shipyard can do it better.
It is not recommended to do it at sea, since resources to repaint are limited and the ship would have to be at anchor, Tball.
