Trump is weakening the US military's global readiness to confront threats

I have a large extended family with many members serving, and I pay a lot in taxes. Not to mention, I live in the USA, and the more they do to destroy the USA the more it impacts me.
You have never served, Wally.
You have no clue about ships or navy.
You despise the Constitution of the United States and all State constitutions.

The USA is not destroyed.

They literally have not.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
When something is 2.5 times worse than the record, it is something that has not been dealt with before. Before the USA entered the war, combatants tried to keep soldiers in WWI constantly engaged, but they ran into burnout. People cannot work around the clock for two years without any breaks. It destroys people.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Even during the extended deployments of Vietnam, the aircraft carriers were stationed over the horizon. Sailor were regularly going on leave, getting fresh supplies, etc. They were basically stationed in the Philippines, and even then the deployments were no where near two years.

They were longer than two years, Wally!

No aircraft carrier has been deployed for one year, much less two years. It just has never happened. There were lengthy sail ship deployments in the 1800's, but crews had more downtime during those. During the early 1900's, ships would be deployed to a port for a year at a time, but they were free to enjoy the port.

There were two 10 and 11 month deployments of aircraft carriers during Vietnam. It was different because it was an over the horizon deployment. There were boats ferrying people back and forth to the Philippines all day. At any given time, about a quarter of the crew would be on land. So it was not an 11 month deployment for the individual sailors.

The human body has trouble dealing with 91 hour weeks for 104 weeks in a row. It is especially hard when it is hard work, and life and death work. People start breaking down, and making mistakes.

You obviously have no experience with ships at sea, Wally.

Look how old she is...

I made a model of this ship when I was about 9 years old. She's ancient.
I know. A damn good record too. Just showing all carriers and ships at sea rust. Also the common sense that in combat or security operations that takes precedence over routine maintenance. No one should have to explain this simple fact to anyone.

I have been thinking of the Ship of Theseus. For a thousand years, every year the Athenians would look over the Ship of Theseus replace all the rotten wood, and then sail it to a religious ceremony. It was a wooden ship that somehow lasted for a thousand years... sort of. Philosophers asked, if you take each rotten board of wood, and built them into a ship, which ship would be Ship of Theseus.

But beyond philosophers, the people of Athens were overjoyed to have a thousand year old ship with a connection to the hero Theseus. When Macedonia occupied Athens, they did not care about Theseus or his ship, so did not replace the wood. Very quickly, it ceased to exist.

If we do not maintain our aircraft carriers, and their crews, very quickly they will cease to exist.

Seeing reports that the Lincoln will come to Washington for a paint job.

So much for claims that ships always look like this after a float.

Pentagon inspector general says $22.3B spent on Iran war munitions has caused "strategic inventory shortfalls"

The Defense Department's inspector general revealed Monday that the United States is facing a shortfall in ammunition as a result of its costly war in Iran.

In a first-of-its-kind mandatory report to Congress, the inspector said that between Feb. 28 and June 30, Operation Epic Fury (OEF) had an estimated cost of $33.4 billion, with $22.3 billion of that spent on munitions alone.

"The munitions expenditure on OEF has resulted in strategic inventory shortfalls and revealed industrial base bottlenecks for munitions resupply," the report states.
